For every $1 a man earns in our region, how much does a woman earn? Swipe to see how your county compares.

In 2024, women in Hamilton County earned 83 cents for every dollar earned by men. Across our region, that number ranges from 73 to 92 cents depending on where you live.

Many of the young people we talk to had no idea a pay gap still exists, so we wanted to put real numbers in front of you. Did yours surprise you? Tell us your county in the comments.

January 2027, the PULSE Dashboard launches with free, county-level data on pay, health, education, leadership, and safety for women and girls across eight counties. We at the Women’s Fund believe we all have the right to access trusted information. Let’s use it to create systems change together.

Is it better for Ohio’s economy to expand child care assistance eligibility? Our research says yes.

In collaboration with the The Alpaugh Family Economics Center at UC, our cliff effect analysis found that child care assistance is one of the most important supports helping Ohio families reach self-sufficiency. Expanding eligibility to families earning up to 200% of the federal poverty level (FPL) would make nearly 200,000 more children eligible, with an estimated 46,000 children actually receiving assistance.

The return is clear:

- $355.9 million in annual benefits

- $126.8 million in increased earnings for mothers and child care workers

- $23.2 million in new tax revenue

- $205.9 million in additional benefits for families and businesses

With an estimated annual cost of $220.3 million to the state, every $1 invested returns $1.62 to individuals, families, businesses, and taxpayers.

Child care isn’t just a family issue. It’s economic infrastructure.
