🌍 Put Your Public Health Skills Into Practice!

Last week, we were excited to launch the Applied Global Health Program, a partnership between SOTENI International and the University of Cincinnati Department of Environmental & Public Health Sciences (DEPHS)!

A special thank you to Dr. Michelle Burbage, Dr. Victoria Wulsin, and Dr. Eric Zgodzinski for their support in making this partnership and program possible.

Through this program, graduate students can work on real-world global health projects while receiving mentorship from professionals working in the field. Students will have opportunities to build practical skills, receive professional guidance, and contribute to SOTENI’s work with rural communities in Kenya.

Opportunities include research and data, program development and evaluation, community engagement, grant writing, mentorship, and more.

Stronger Together💚

We are excited to launch SOTENI International’s Sustaining Support Groups: Stronger Together campaign!

Through this campaign, we are working to strengthen the livelihoods of 169 Support Groups representing more than 3,000 members and their families in rural Kenya. Donations will help provide entrepreneurship training, seed funding, and ongoing mentorship, helping members build businesses, increase income and savings, and create more secure futures for their families.

SOTENI International was honored to participate in the SOS ART Kenyan Cultural Event and Movie Festival and share our video, SOTENI: All of Us Together, featuring the stories of SOTENI beneficiaries and the impact of our work in Kenya.

A heartfelt thank you to SOS ART for hosting this wonderful event and for celebrating Kenyan culture, art, and storytelling. We are also grateful to everyone who attended the screening, visited our table, and learned more about SOTENI's mission.

🎬 Join SOTENI at the Kenyan Movie Mini Festival!

We are excited to invite you to a special screening of SOTENI: All of Us Together, a short film showcasing the inspiring stories of SOTENI beneficiaries and the impact of our programs in Kenya.

Hosted as part of the Kenyan Movie Mini Festival by SOS ART, this event celebrates Kenyan culture, storytelling, and community.

📅 Date: Sunday, August 2
🕑 Time: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
📍 Location: Esquire Theatre, 320 Ludlow Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45220

The SOTENI screening begins at 2:00 PM and will be followed by the 'A Small Act' (2010) movie, followed by a community discussion.

🎨 SOTENI is excited to share an upcoming event by SOS ART!

Printed Voices from Kenya: Social and Cultural Reflections is an international exhibition by featuring 154 original prints by 42 Kenyan artists. Through printmaking, these artists share stories and perspectives that reflect contemporary social and cultural life in Kenya.

As part of the exhibition, SOTENI International will be participating in the Kenyan Cultural Festival. We invite you to stop by our table, learn about our work in Kenya, and enjoy an afternoon of art, culture, music, and community.

Earlier this month, SOTENI was grateful to once again be part of the Flying Pig Marathon weekend as an official charity partner. 🐷

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, supported the Piggest Raffle, volunteered, and helped spread awareness about SOTENI and our programs in Kenya.

Special thank you to our volunteers, including Alaa Tukurna (at our charity booth), and to Rocky, SOTENI’s furry supporter, for representing us during the Flying Fur event. We are also grateful to Joel Barnhill, Mia Perdue, and the entire Pig Works team for their continued support of local nonprofits and community organizations.

Community events like these continue to help us build connections locally while supporting our work globally. 💙
