McGregor House

McGregor House An intentional community house in Mt. Auburn What is an intentional community you ask? It is a group of like-minded individuals living together with an intent.

The Mac House was started in the summer of 2010 to serve both the people of Mount Auburn and the members of the intentional community. There are many different intents that a community can have, for example sustainable living, religious beliefs or any other group initiative. The intent of this community is a combination of a few purposes, however, the main purpose is to ultimately serve the neighb

orhood while also living a socially and environmentally responsible life. The objective is to obtain residential members who are currently working in the non-profit sector because it shows they are dedicating their time to serving the community. The house also provides affordable housing for these tenants while they live in a like-minded housing community. This house, however, is not exclusively for people working in the non-profit and public service sector, it can be for anyone who truly has the heart to serve others living in a simple way. This home also has a first floor that is 100% accessible to those with limited mobility. A great book on intentional communities is "The Irresistible Revolution" by Shane Claiborn. Although our intentional community is secular, this book has great principles that would be beneficial for anybody to read.
