🚒💧 Rural Water Supply Training 💧🚒

Not every community has a fire hydrant on the corner, and in Lafayette, we don’t have hydrants available for firefighting operations. That means our crews have to be ready to bring the water with us.

During this month’s water movement training, firefighters practiced rural water supply operations using tenders and portatanks to create a continuous water shuttle to the scene. These drills help us move thousands of gallons of water quickly and efficiently when every second counts.

In rural areas, tenders and portable tanks are essential for maintaining a reliable water supply during fires.

Training like this takes coordination, communication, and teamwork, and it’s a critical part of protecting our community where hydrants aren’t available. We’re proud of our members for continually sharpening these skills to stay ready for the call. 🚒👏

EMS is the rare job where “I hope we never meet” is actually a compliment.

But if life throws you a curveball and you do cross paths with our EMTs and medics, know this: you’re in the hands of some of the best humans out there. This EMS Week, if you see them out and about, give them some thanks! They’ve earned it. 🚑 💛

Behind every drill and every long training day is a simple truth:
we’re training to take care of the same families we go home to.

We’re not just firefighters and EMS providers. We’re your neighbors, parents, coaches, coworkers, and friends.

This community raised us, supports us, and stands with us, and we’re proud to serve you in return. 🚒 🚑

🔥 Fire Danger Is HIGH — Don’t Burn Today 🔥

We get it.
You’ve got brush to clear.
You’ve got matches.
You’ve got “just a little pile.”

But you’ve also got wind gusts, dry ground, and a DNR warning that says fire danger is high — not “meh,” not “maybe wait.”
High. Danger.

So unless you want your burn pile to turn into a grass fire that eats half the county…

Don’t burn today.
Don’t test the wind.
Don’t be that guy.

Your fire department thanks you.
Your neighbors thank you.
Your insurance company really thanks you. 😉 🔥

The Chippewa Fire District mirrors WI DNR regulations on burning. Thus, no burning today. Thank you!
