“At 32, a cancer diagnosis turned my world upside down. The Y became a source of strength for me and my family, supporting us in ways I never expected.”

For Carrie Mathwig, Vice President of Operations at the YMCA of the Chippewa Valley, the Y has been so much more than a place to work.

After her cancer diagnosis, Carrie spent 12 months rebuilding her strength at the Y through our LIVESTRONG program. Her journey is a powerful reminder of the impact the Y can have on individuals and families.

Since joining the YMCA team in 2013, Carrie has continued to be part of that impact.

💙 Watch Carrie's story and hear what the Y means to her.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re honored to share a few words from one of our own. 💗

Jenn’s story is a reminder of strength, hope, and taking things one step at a time—even on the hard days.

Through her experience, the Y became a steady place to turn to and something to hold onto beyond the unknown.

Thank you, Jenn, for sharing your words and a piece of your story with us.

💙 Meet Haili!

Every Y has people behind the scenes who bring passion and purpose to what they do, and Haili is one of them.

As a valued member of our Senior Leadership Team at the Eau Claire South YMCA, Haili appreciates how the Y encourages people to grow and pursue what they love.

“The Y really cares about growth and helping you succeed in what you love to do. Working for the Y is not just a job, but a passion.”

For Haili, that passion shows through personal training and the relationships she builds along the way.

“I always say personal training is more than just a workout. It’s showing up for people and being a support system for them when they need it most.”

We’re grateful to have Haili on our team and for the care and support she brings to the Eau Claire South Y every day. 💙
