Recently, the kindergarten students and teachers at Thorp Elementary received a meaningful gift—a donation of books that carries a special legacy, inspiring dreams and fostering a love of learning among our students.
This generous gift is provided by the Amanda Geissler Memorial Foundation, a heartfelt tribute to a truly exceptional young woman whose impact continues to inspire. Amanda was a dedicated student and athlete at Thorp High School from 1998 to 2002. She was known for her passion, perseverance, and kindness. Wearing jersey number 10, she made a significant impact on the basketball court, helping her team reach their first-ever trip to the state semifinals. Amanda’s resilience and enthusiasm motivated everyone around her to aim higher and believe in their potential.
The Amanda Geissler Memorial Foundation actively supports educational opportunities for women and children and promotes kindness through various acts of generosity. Their support includes contributions to local organizations such as Beaver Creek Reserve and the Open Door Free Clinic, scholarships for Thorp High School students, and sponsorship of youth activities like the WHIZ kids basketball program.
Amanda’s love for reading and learning reflected her bright personality. She envisioned a world where others could experience the joy of reading and discover new possibilities. In her memory, the Foundation has generously provided funds to enhance our kindergarten classrooms, allowing us to offer each student their own books and enrich our teachers’ libraries. Their goal is to increase access to books for more children, fostering a lifelong passion for reading and helping to build hopeful futures.
Each child was able to select special books to take home—gifts thoughtfully provided by the Amanda Geissler Memorial Foundation, representing her enduring legacy. Every book includes a sticker that says, “Dream Big, Read,” serving as a reminder of Amanda’s inspiring spirit and her belief in the transformative power of education and dreams.
We invite everyone to honor Amanda’s memory by embracing curiosity and reading often. Because through books, we open doors to endless possibilities—just as Amanda would have wanted us to do.
