Chicago Youth Centers

Chicago Youth Centers https://linktr.ee/ChicagoYouthCenters C*C students are deeply engaged, with many attending our hands-on clubs five days a week, 48 weeks a year.

C*C envisions a Chicago where every child has equitable access to the resources, experiences, safe spaces, and mentors that they need to live each day as their best selves. Chicago Youth Centers’ mission is to invest in youth in under-served communities to help them discover and realize their full potential. For 65 years, Chicago Youth Centers (C*C) has been the place Where Possibility Lives: a tr

usted partner in Chicago’s most divested neighborhoods, ensuring that kids have a safe place they can go to explore, to discover, to process, and ultimately to envision a bright future that they can create for themselves. Today, C*C is a network of neighborhood- and school-based Centers and the 11th largest provider of Head Start programs across the city. In early learning classrooms, afterschool programs, and summer day camps, youth ages 15 months to 18 years find joy in learning, grow socially and emotionally, and build skills for the jobs of tomorrow. Together, with families, schools, supporters, and a network of extracurricular program partners, C*C boldly envisions a Chicago where every child has the resources, experiences, and mentors they need to pursue lives of endless possibility. www.chicagoyouthcenters.org

"Devin Swift, who manages science and technology programming for Chicago Youth Centers, said the question isn’t whether their students should learn about AI, but how to make sure young people from the under-resourced communities they serve have access.

'AI is up and coming. I think it’s important for young youth, especially Black and Brown youth, to know what it’s about,' Swift said. 'So that when they get out into the world, they have all the tools necessary to be good adults, to be in the workforce.'”

"For the third consecutive year, a multi-day binational academic and professional exchange on youth and youth work took place in May 2026 at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg (THA) in Augsburg and Chicago. As part of the courses “Social Space Orientation” and “Participation and Empowerment” in the Social Work program at THA, faculty, students, and practitioners from both countries discussed current issues surrounding youth, social inequality, and youth work.

In addition to professors from THA and the University of Illinois Chicago, experts from Chicago Youth Centers as well as professionals from the City of Augsburg (Office for Children, Youth, and Family) and the City Youth Council of Augsburg (Stadtjugendring – SJR) participated. The expert exchange was initiated, organized, and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Barbara Professor of Social Space Orientation in the Social Work program at THA
