Chicago Volunteer Doulas

Chicago Volunteer Doulas Our clients come from families who could not otherwise afford a doula. Many receive their health care at neighborhood clinics.

CVDoulas provides access to free and low-cost labor, postpartum, and pregnancy loss support. 📧[email protected] for doula service inquiries, rather than dm🤎 They range in age from teenagers to women in their 40’s. Most are Hispanic or African America, speaking English and/or Spanish. Most have family members who will be present at the birth. Their experience and knowledge

about labor and delivery varies greatly: Some attend the childbirth classes at clinic or the hospital regularly, others come sporadically and others not at all. Some are single moms and others are married. What they all share is the wish to have someone knowledgeable about childbirth support them through their labor, and to have a healthy, happy baby.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈

At Chicago Volunteer Doulas, we believe everyone deserves compassionate, affirming, and respectful care. Pride is a celebration of identity, community, resilience, and the right to exist fully and authentically.

This month and every month, we honor LGBTQ+ individuals, families, doulas, and birthworkers who continue to build spaces rooted in love, care, and liberation.

We are proud to stand alongside our LGBTQ+ community and remain committed to supporting reproductive justice for all.

Happy Pride Month from all of us at CVD. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

🖤 May is Maternal Mental Health Month.

As May comes to a close, we want every birthing person, parent, and family to remember this: you are not alone.

Pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenting can bring joy, but they can also bring anxiety, depression, overwhelm, grief, and uncertainty. Your mental health matters just as much as your physical health.

At Chicago Volunteer Doulas, we believe everyone deserves compassionate support, community, and care throughout their journey.

If you or someone you love is struggling, reach out. Support is available, and healing is possible. 🤍

CVDoula Spotlight: Nefertiti ✨

Meet Nefertiti, a full spectrum doula centering care, mental health, reproductive justice, LGBTQ awareness, and Black feminism in her birthwork.

Nefertiti became a doula to help close the gap in maternal mortality and support people in finding their voices when it comes to body autonomy, healthcare, and their everyday lives.

Trained as part of Cohort 3 in the 100 Doulas Rising Program, Nefertiti has supported 9 clients so far, including births and postpartum care.

We are so grateful for the care, empathy, and joy she brings into this work. 💜

Drop some love for Nefertiti in the comments. 👏🏾✨

When Black women speak on maternal health, we listen. 💜

Reposted from & -Maternal health is not just a conversation. It is a matter of dignity, safety, survival, and justice. Black women continue to face disproportionate risks during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care, and that reality deserves national attention and real action.

Thank you to Michelle Obama and Serena Williams for using your voices to shine a light on an issue that impacts so many families and communities every single day.

At Chicago Volunteer Doulas, we believe everyone deserves compassionate, culturally responsive support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. Community based doula care saves lives. ✨
