National Black Evangelical Association

National Black Evangelical Association The NBEA is about biblical and cultural integrity. The organization is cross-denominational, and we respect both women and men for their gifts of ministry.

Since its beginning in 1963, the NBEA has always been about reaching our community—and our world—for Christ. We believe in prayer, for our God hears and answers prayer. In this journey, believers of all races have joined with NBEA.

Celebrating Juneteenth honors the enduring struggle and ultimate triumph of freedom for African Americans, marking the day—June 19, 1865—when the last enslaved people in the United States were finally informed of their emancipation, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth is the necessary legal complement to July 4, 1776, with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In the US, it took BOTH legal enactments to fully set free African Americans. Juneteenth, which was formally recognized as a federal holiday by President Joe Biden on June 17, 2021, stands as a powerful reminder of the resilience, courage, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history. Juneteenth encourages reflection on the deep roots of systemic racism while also celebrating Black culture, heritage, and progress. Recognizing this day helps foster a more inclusive and truthful understanding of American history, promoting unity, education, and continued efforts toward justice and equality. NBEA remembers Juneteenth, and celebrates Black freedom!
