Happy Pride ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

This month, we celebrate our LGBTQ+
friends, colleagues, families, and communities.

We are especially grateful to the countless LGBTQ+ leaders, advocates, parents, caregivers, and young people whose voices have expanded our collective understanding of family, belonging, love, and well-being. Their leadership has helped build stronger, more inclusive communities where all children and families can thrive.

At Prevent Child Abuse America and Healthy Families America, we believe every child deserves to grow up surrounded by safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments and every family deserves to be seen, valued, and supported.

To everyone celebrating this month, thank you for helping create a future where all children and families are living a purposeful and happy life with hope for the future.

Happy Pride!

Behind every policy conversation are real families, real experiences, and real relationships.

During National Home Visiting Week and beyond, parents from the Healthy Families America network have shared their stories through Hill visits, Congressional briefings, public speaking opportunities, and conversations with policymakers and partners.

As Rebekah, an HFA parent who participated in a Congressional Hill briefing during National Home Visiting Week, shared:

โ€œBeing part of the panel gave me the chance to share not just my story, but the importance of having support during early parenthood. I hope it helped people better understand the impact trusted relationships can have for families.โ€

When parents share their experiences directly with policymakers and communities, it helps bring deeper understanding to the importance of relationship-based support during pregnancy and early childhood.

Parent leadership is essential to building systems that truly reflect the needs and strengths of families. We are grateful to the parents who continue to lead with courage, honesty, and compassion. ๐Ÿ’™

During Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, weโ€™re recognizing the communities, cultures, and relationships that help families thrive across Hawaiสปi, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and American Samoa.

We celebrate the strength, culture, traditions, and resilience of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander families, as well as the dedicated HFA sites and staff walking alongside them every day. Across island communities and U.S. territories, Healthy Families America home visitors are partnering with families during pregnancy and early childhood through trusted relationships, encouragement, and culturally responsive support rooted in community and connection.

Together, these sites provided nearly 10,000 home visits and supported hundreds of families in a single year.

We celebrate the rich cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions of AANHPI communities across the country and honor the many families, staff, and communities who help shape our network every day.

This is the power of home visiting.

โ€œI remember sitting on the living room floor with a young mother who was terrified.

Her toddler was just beginning to experiment with sounds, right on the cusp of verbal expression. But instead of excitement, she felt dread. Her older child had struggled with speech delays, and she carried deep shame, convinced she had done something wrong. She was afraid she was about to repeat the same story.

Over several visits, we talked about how language is acquired. [โ€ฆ] Within weeks, that toddler went from a few tentative sounds to multiple signsโ€ฆ then a handful of new words.

But the most powerful transformation wasnโ€™t the toddlerโ€™s vocabulary. It was his mother.

I watched a woman who doubted herself, who feared recreating the neglect she experienced in her own childhood, grow into a confident, joyful parent.โ€

-Sarah, Family Support Specialist

Sometimes the biggest transformation isnโ€™t what happens with a child. Itโ€™s what happens within a parent.

Home visitors create trusted relationships where parents feel supported, encouraged, and empowered to see their own strengths. Through consistent connection and compassionate support, families are reminded that they do not have to navigate parenting alone.

To every parent carrying doubt or questioning whether they are enough:

๐Ÿ’™ You are learning.
๐Ÿ’™ You are showing up.
๐Ÿ’™ You are growing.
๐Ÿ’™ You are building something meaningful every day.

Thatโ€™s the collective number of years the HFA National Office team has spent working within the Healthy Families America model โ€” not only through their time at the National Office, but also through years of service in communities and states across the country.

Our teamโ€™s experience spans nearly every role in HFA: home visitors, Family Resource Specialists, supervisors, program managers, directors, trainers, and state leaders. Together, those years represent decades of partnering with families, supporting local programs, strengthening systems, and helping communities thrive.

As we reflected on those years together, we thought that we might need to make a marathon sticker to commemorate it โ€” because this work truly is a marathon. Itโ€™s long-term, intentional work built on relationships, commitment, persistence, and showing up for families year after year.

That kind of longevity speaks to the heart of HFA and the people who make this work possible. ๐Ÿ’™

Mental Health Awareness Month is a time to recognize the importance of mental well-being at every stage of life, including during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Maternal mental health matters, and every parent deserves support, connection, and care. ๐Ÿ’š

Healthy Families America home visitors partner with more than 66,000 families each year, building trusted relationships and creating safe, supportive spaces where conversations about mental health can happen openly and without stigma. Home visitors help connect families to mental health resources and community supports while reminding parents that caring for their mental health is an important part of caring for themselves and their children.

Together, families, caregivers, and dedicated home visitors can help reduce stigma, strengthen connections, and support healthier futures for children, families, and communities.
