FSMA Day 26: our final day of the summer! (1) After final lessons and practicing in the morning, the afternoon began with one last orchestra rehearsal with Maestro Ryan Tani (2) and final pedagogy discussion with Addison Teng | 鄧丞修 and group journal discussion (3). The afternoon finished with our last student chamber music concert, featuring the first movement of Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 7 (4-5), two movements of Dvořák’s Miniatures for 2 Violins and Viola (6-7), and the Franck Piano Quintet (8-9). After one last al fresco dinner in the dining hall (10), the orchestra gave its second concert of the summer. The program included a String Symphony by Mendelssohn (11), the first movement of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with Artist-in-Residence Aitong Zhang (12), Finzi’s Eclogue (13), and Janacek’s Suite for Strings (14). Congratulations to all the students for all your hard work and growth this summer, and to our faculty Mr. Teng, Amy Hess , Nicholas Mariscal , Peter Takács, Ms. Zhang, and Maestro Tani and guest faculty Jeremy Kienbaum and Mike Kaufman for all of your teaching and mentorship.
