This week, CPI and partners published a peer-reviewed paper in the Journal of Philanthropy outlining a new model for global health partnerships in a time of historic foreign aid reductions entitled:
Re-envisioning Global Health Partnerships in Times of Decreasing Foreign Aid: The Child Thrive Coalition.
Since 2025, global health aid has declined by more than 20%, with devastating consequences for children and adolescents in low- and middle-income countries.
This crisis necessitates new ways of thinking about partnering and resourcing global health projects.
In this paper, we introduce the Child Thrive Coalition Model — a community-centered approach.
Rather than replacing foreign aid dollar for dollar — an impossible task — we propose re-structuring how resources flow into global health. If you are a philanthropic leader, foundation executive, corporate partner, or impact investor thinking about how to deploy resources more effectively in this moment, I would welcome a conversation.
The question is no longer how to sustain the old model.
The question is: What replaces it?
