Josefina joined SGA's Higher Sights program during her senior year of high school while preparing for college. Through one-on-one mentorship and guidance, she found support navigating the college application process, financial aid, and the transition to college.

When Josefina realized her original major wasn't the right fit, her mentor encouraged her to explore new possibilities, giving her the confidence to change her major and pursue marketing.

When asked what advice she'd give to other students considering Higher Sights, Josefina shared:

"Don't be afraid to reach out for help. Having a mentor by your side can make all the difference."

Higher Sights provides high school and college students with one-on-one mentorship, college readiness resources, academic guidance, and personalized support to help them navigate challenges, build confidence, and work toward their educational and career goals.

For 115 years, SGA has remained committed to helping children, families, and communities facing great challenges realize their potential. While the needs of those we serve have evolved over the years, our mission has remained the same.

Inspired by the work of Jane Addams and the Hull House reformers, SGA Youth & Family Services was founded in 1911. Their legacy of advocacy, education, and community support continues to inspire the work we do today.
