Unity In Community: September ’26
Jalil Howe
I have always been into running, but it was mostly just a couple miles to stay fit. I got into a car accident a couple years ago, and physical therapy wasn’t working for me so I started jogging back up and found my love for it again. Before, I used to just go out and run however many miles, but now, I train to improve on speed and longer distances.
Seeing people come together, supporting each other, and pushing beyond their limits keeps me motivated to keep showing up everyday. One thing I love about SPARC is it’s a family, and as much as everyone says I motivate them, they motivate me more to do the runs I do.
The accomplishment I’m most proud of is the Seven Cities Run, where I ran through all seven cities in one day. The entire experience—from training with runners from SPARC to the incredible support along the way and everyone who showed up at the Neptune statue—made it truly unforgettable. It was more than just a run; it was a community experience I’ll always be proud.
