Chesapeake 4-H Livestock Club

Chesapeake 4-H Livestock Club Standing for head, heart, hands, and health, 4-H uses more than a century of experience in youth development programming to build strong, confident leaders

4-H is the youth development education program of Virginia Cooperative Extension. 4-H is rich with learning experiences where young people partner with caring adults and volunteers in a fellowship unlike any other program available to youth today. The 4-H Youth Livestock Program is the largest animal science project area enabling youth to develop their interest in beef cattle, sheep, goats, and sw

ine in their 4-H projects. Youth learn about selection, care, and feeding of livestock, animal health, and importance of good record keeping. Emphasis for these projects continues to be focused on life skill development. This program offers competitions such as livestock judging and stockmen's contests as well as livestock shows at the county, district, and state levels. Chesapeake 4-H Livestock Club currently offers projects in Market Lambs, Breeding Ewes, Market Goats, Breeding Does, Swine, and Market Steer. Our season runs October - September of the following year. Chesapeake 4-H Livestock Club is open to youth ages 9-19 who meet the Virginia age/location requirements regardless of race, color, national origin, s*x, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, s*xual orientation, or marital or family status.
