The CCPAAA recently conducted a pulled pork barbecue fundraiser that was a great success for a first-time endeavor! Over 130 one-pound packages were sold, and along with additional monetary donations, a total of $600 was raised for the alumni association!

These proceeds will directly support our many projects throughout the year that benefit our police department and provide ongoing support for the programs, activities, and services that allow us to give back to those who protect and serve us every day.

A huge thanks goes to our fundraising committee members, Bernadette Bridgeman, Marc Seritella, Maya Zamani, Phyllis Allgood, and Jose Cruz (chair) for their dedication and commitment to organizing this effort and ensuring the barbecue was distributed for all orders.

The committee would like to extend a special thanks to Phyllis Allgood for initiating and helping coordinate the fundraiser with Hardison's Carolina Barbeque Restaurant in Jamesville, NC, just south of Elizabeth City and Edenton. If you’re ever down that way and love some delicious pulled pork barbecue, please stop by and show them some love!

🏆Once again, the CCPAAA is proud to present the Top Boot Award to the newest graduating class of the Chesapeake Police Department Basic Police Academy.

The Top Boot Award is presented to the officer candidate who has been voted upon by his or her peers to be that officer they would want watching their back during a dire situation. Along with having their name inscribed on the award until the next graduating class, their name will appear on the permanent plaque that is displayed at the Chesapeake Law Enforcement Training Academy. In addition, they also receive a $100 gift card from the CCPAAA!

We are happy to announce that the Top Boot Award for the 82nd Session of the Chesapeake Law Enforcement Basic Police Academy goes to Officer Terry Page.

President Patti Warren, on behalf of the Chesapeake Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, had the honor of presenting this award at the graduation ceremony on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Congratulations to Officer Page and the entire 82nd Session of the Basic Police Academy! Thank you to each of you for your commitment to serve the citizens of Chesapeake. 💙🚔

Beware of scammers asking you to scan QR codes or visit a cryptocurrency ATM to make a payment for things such as court fines, jury duty, support for a family member in jail, or investment opportunities. These requests are a red flag, especially if you’re being pressured to act quickly or told the payment must be made through cryptocurrency.

Chesapeake agencies and other legitimate organizations will not demand payment through cryptocurrency ATM to send money. Always verify payment information through an official phone number or website.

If you think you’re a victim of a scam, call the Police non-emergency line at 757-382-6161 or email [email protected].

Our alumni association recently conducted a food drive for the ForKids pantry and it was a great success! The generous donations from our members filled a cart and they were so grateful for everything! Thanks so much to Master Police Officer Nicolas Houlihan from the Second Precinct for being the guest speaker at our August meeting! What a great evening with a full house! After Nic was injured recently during a traffic stop, he was assigned to the Realtime Crime Center during his recovery phase while on restricted duty. He admitted that he was initially apprehensive with his reassignment, but after being there even just a short time, it really became a blessing in disguise. His experience learning more about all the integrated systems at the RCC and how they are used in the investigative process was a truly eye opening one and a major game changer in assisting officers and detectives in apprehending suspects involved in criminal activity in Chesapeake. He was definitely able to find a silver lining with his injury and is thankful for his experience there. We are truly appreciative of his time with us, as well as his commitment and dedication to protecting and serving the citizens of Chesapeake. Thank you, again, Officer Houlihan! 🚔💙

Thanks to this crew of alumni volunteers for their role playing skills with new police recruits at the 6th Precinct on Tuesday morning. They conducted two crash investigation scenarios and were able to cycle through all 17 recruits in about 4 hours. Everyone did great, had fun, stayed hydrated in the heat, and received very positive feedback from the instructors and students. Thank you to Sheila Boyce, Irene Baker, Marc Seritella, Larry Garrett, Jennifer Economy, Patti Warren, and Missy Holweger for being our resident thespians today! 🎭
