The Wythe County Chapter of Virginia Organizing invites you to its first annual Wythe Earth Fest to celebrate the Earth and promote environmental preservation in Wythe County. Join us at Seven Sisters Brewery in Wytheville for fun, learning, and community.

The event will feature live performances by local artists Georgie Randall, Thom Moore, and Leslie Brooks. The festival will also highlight a variety of local vendors from artisans, to photographers, to nonprofit organizations, and more. And more vendors are being added, so you won't want to miss it!

We were out in the community again this weekend tabling at our Downtown Wytheville Fourth of July event! We shared with people about VO and recruited a new member, scheduled several 1:1s, and helped 6 returning citizens fill out forms to request to have their voting rights restored ✊🤝

Our chapter tabled at the 2026 Community Connections Day, sponsored by the Wytheville-Wythe-Bland Chamber of Commerce. We were there to share information about Restoration of voting rights, voter registrations, and to let people know about the work of Virginia Organizing 🙌 The event also featured live bands, food vendors, and other community organizations.

On Monday, our chapter held a press conference to share continued concerns about potential data centers in Wythe County. Chapter members, including chapter leader Georgia Randall, talked with WDBZ7 about the impact on farming communities and lack of transparency from the local government.

In response to previous concerns shared, the Wythe County Board of Supervisors and planning commission held an informational meeting about a proposed land use ordinance drawn up to prevent solar farm and data center development in Wythe County.

Over the weekend, our Virginia Organizing Wythe County Chapter also held a listening session 🗣 (co-facilitated with Preserve Wythe County) to hear from community members about opposition to proposed data centers in the area and their dissatisfaction by the lack of transparency from the local government.

Guest speakers discussed the impact of data centers on the community, how to organize the community to oppose the centers, and information about land use and NDAs. Attendees also learned about the impact of data centers on utility costs and had the opportunity to share their concerns. As a follow-up to the listening session, the chapter also made calls to local officials on Monday about their concerns. ✊👏🙌
