Community in Action: Supporting ACPS Families This Winter

This holiday season, the Albemarle Foundation for Education was honored to support over 530 Albemarle County Public Schools families with $100 grocery store gift cards, helping ensure access to nutritious food during the winter months.

Gift cards were distributed at the Winter Mobile Market on December 10, alongside fresh food and winter clothes.

This support was made possible by the generosity of a donor through the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, and we are deeply grateful for their commitment to our students and families.

We were thrilled to share time with teachers at the Albemarle County Public Schools Newcomer Learning Center. These educators welcome students from all over the world and help them acclimate to school. Thank you for all you do!

In partnership with the Albemarle Foundation for Education, we brought flowers and posters and snacks... and a few tomato plants, too.

Did you know, that this one Center is serving students
from 15 countries...
speaking 6 languages, some with multiple dialects...
73 middle and high schoolers now...
over 100 students this year, many who've transitioned out already...
1 middle school class and 2 high school classes ...
many students who have limited formal education in their home country...
with 2 new students who arrived just last week...
in a gorgeous site at the new Boys & Girls Club!

SO GRATEFUL to these teachers! What an incredible group of kids.
