The Charlotte Observer is trash for this article and reporter Julia Coin should be ashamed of her clearly biased reporting.

1. This suspect had a modified gun on him as these officers fought him because HE RESISTED. See the comments for a snapshot of the gun seen from the body worn camera footage the trash Observer article provided

2. CMPD Directives mention ma*****na only 10 times, with only one referencing searches of residences (not cars, like this dirtbag was in).

3. The officer involved shooting reporter Coin mentioned in this article failed to mention that one of those officers was shot and injured and is why that suspect was subsequently shot by police.

4. Did Coin get asked by this dirtbag's attorney to report on this in hopes the public would cry for his release? Was it his counsel that tipped you off to request the video because his attorney knows he's screwed? This is a federal case, and the feds don't mess around.

To The Charlotte Observer, there are real cases where police mess up - this clearly is not one of them. Do better - no one wants to pay to read your paper anyway, so we included the free Yahoo article for readers to see just how biased you are.

Charlotte officers who pinned and tased a man in Steele Creek (video) were also involved in a violent, viral bus-stop arrest across the street.

Today, we hosted a Press Conference for Michael Whatley for Senate at our lodge. The topic: restoring law and order.

Tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of the murder of Iryna Zarutska, and the law passed in her honor is already working. Di-Quan Hunt, who filmed himself brutally beating a woman in the Dilworth area remains behind bars without bond.

Whatley’s support for law enforcement is without question and he is proudly endorsed by the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police.

We fully support the request from Chief Patterson to amend the curfew ordinance in Charlotte. We know that discussions between the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and Charlotte City Council will result in a fair and balanced resolution that will make our community safer.

There must be actions taken to advocate for tools that law enforcement can use to curb the teen takeovers, some of which have already lead to violence in Uptown.

It is not the responsibility of police officers to raise children, monitor their every move, or ensure they are where they are supposed to be. That responsibility belongs first and foremost to parents and guardians. The job of law enforcement is to protect public safety and enforce the laws and ordinances that are in place.

When large groups of juveniles are intentionally creating dangerous situations, disrupting businesses, threatening residents and visitors, and disregarding the safety of others, law enforcement has every right, and responsibility, to take a firm, zero-tolerance approach.

Residents and visitors to Uptown Charlotte, or anywhere else in our community, should not have to worry about being shot, caught in a stampede, assaulted, or surrounded by hundreds of young people who have little regard for the safety and well-being of others. No one should be expected to simply accept that as the price of being in a public place.

And let’s be clear: accountability starts at home. If more parents and guardians were taking responsibility for their children’s behavior, setting boundaries, enforcing consequences, and knowing where their children are, we would not be having conversations about stricter curfews and holding parents accountable.

Delegates from Lodge 9 are in Carolina Beach for the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police State Conference. Despite serious discussions, we can get rowdy from time to time, but all in good fun. Thankfully our State President was not injured in the making of this video.
