6/19/26 - Celebration of Life

Today Members of Greater Chambersburg Area Paid Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 1813 joined Family & Friends of Brother Joe McLaughlin in a Celebration of Life.

Local 1813’s Honor Guard were given the Honors of standing watch on our Brother during the ceremony.

The life of Brother McLaughlin cannot simply be summed up in only a few words. However, Joe brought life and laughter to every occasion. We all will miss his contagious smile. Rest In Peace Brother

6/17/26 - D-Shift - Box 1-01 - 500 Block East Queen Street - Borough of Chambersburg - Auto Accident

Engine 1-2 & Ambulance 1-9 were dispatched and responded to the 500 Block of East Queen Street for a reported auto accident involving multiple vehicles

Units arrived on scene to find several parked cars struck by another vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Crews provided scene lighting and debris removal before going available.

6/17/26 - D-Shift - Shift Training

Members of D-Shift spent the afternoon working with ropes and practicing patient lowering techniques using high and low angle exercises.

6/17/26 - C-Shift - Box 1-01 - 100 Block of Sunbrook Drive - Borough of Chambersburg - House Fire reported out.

Company 1 were alerted and responded to the 100 Block of Sunbrook Drive for a reported house fire - reported out. Additional information obtained en route as a fire in the closet, fire is out, 1 burn patient reported.

Engine 1-1 arrived on the scene to find normal conditions from the exterior Side A. As crews made access to the interior, a light smoke condition was found.

Crews found a smoldering mattress and carpet in the second floor. Crews removed the mattress and noted that the fire was contained at this time. A burn patient was located and Engine 1-2 requested ALS & Aeromedical to the hospital.

Crews assisted Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department EMS with patient packaging and patient was transported to the helipad at Chambersburg Hospital and met with Life Net 81

Crews utilized positive pressure ventilation to clear the house of smoke before going available.

PSA: Always take caution in both use of charging devices and locations of such devices. Always use charging devices as recommended by the manufacture.

It is with profound sadness that the Officers & Members of Greater Chambersburg Area Paid Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 1813 announce the passing of retired member Joe McLaughlin.

Brother McLaughlin proudly served the department for over 30 years before retiring. Joe was instrumental in the Local’s history as a strong advocate for his Brothers & Sisters helping to secure several successful contracts.

Brother McLaughlin was also known for his “historical” memory and ability to make everyone in the room laugh.

Currently at this time we ask to respect the family’s privacy and additional information regarding services will be forthcoming. Our hearts are with his family during their time of loss and grief

6/9/26 - D-Shift - Box 1-02 - 500 Block East Liberty Street - Borough of Chambersburg - House Fire

The earlier hose line advancement training in the day proved effective this evening as Company 1 and mutual aide were dispatched to the 500 Block of East Liberty Street for a reported house fire

Engine 1-2 dropped a supply line at the mid 400 block and arrived on the scene to find smoke showing from Side Alpha - first floor. It was reported that all occupants were out of the structure.

Engine 1-2 pulled an initial attack line as well as a back-up line while Engine 1-1’s crew were assigned fire attack. Tower 1 set up on Side A and threw multiple ladders to all four sides.

Crews made entry to find significant smoke and high heat in the living room and ultimately found fire in the kitchen. Engine 1-1’s crew put a quick knock on the fire and marking it under control within 3 minutes of arrival.

Squad 41 preformed primary and secondary searches of the structure while Ladder 42 set up on the C/D corner.

Additional mutual aide arrived and assisted with RIT and secondary water supply.

Crews then began overhaul and Command 1 (AC Myers) held the Box to Company 1. Crews remained on the scene for a brief period assisting the residents and packing up before going available
