For Anyone Interested In The USS Matrix Challenge Coins

For everyone that ordered one, I will be sending them out starting on July 31st ... Yes they arrived early.

For all those still interested in one, they are $13 each. The total for shipping will be $5 within US. Outside the US ... $12.25 for Canada, $14.50 for Irelalnd, England, Scotland, and Wales and $17.75 for Australia.

100% of the proceeds (not shipping cost) of our USS Matrix Challenge Coins will be going to the American Heart Association in the name of the late Captain Jonas Schlein.

Captain Jonas Schlein was a member of Starfleet and the USS Matrix from August 21, 2011 - August 29, 2018. He was very active both within Starfleet and aboard ship. From the Annual Star Trek Olympics to the 1997 Star Trek Science Exhibit at the Baltimore Science Center, we embodied what Starfleet meant.

On Feb 3, 2017 we honored him and the work he had done with the AHA with a Red Shirt Day. Unfortunately, he left us on February 15, 2019 at 45 years old.

His last official act was the donation of his book collection to Starfleet for distribution.

Help us in honoring a great man by purchasing one of these limited coins.

Preorders for the Matrix Challenge Coins is complete. The order has been placed. We are now taking standard orders for them at $13 + shipping. We will be shipping out mid August.

Attention: Ladies and Gentleman, and those non-binary gender species...

I have been hard at work on my last few evening's off, and I am in need of the creative assistance of my crew. I need an appropriate intro video for use on the internet (website/ facebook/ discord/ roll20 etc). So, I thought to myself. why not make it a contest?

The Original Series Opening Monologue

Here is your challenge. Write a "Opening Monologue Syle" introduction specific for the USS Matrix that best reflects the eclectic nature of our crew and wacky nature of our adventures (in real life and in roleplay). Written entries will be voted on by the crew and turned into a brief introduction video that will be used to enhance the USS Matrix's online branding.

The RULES

Submissions must:

begin with the words "Cyberspace, the final frontier...."

be no more than a minute (or two) in length when read aloud

be family friendly

reflect the unique nature of USS Matrix ship & crew

imply Star Trek, but not directly copy and paste from it

The PRIZE

In addition to braggin rights, the admiration of your fellow crewmates, and an evening filled with "Punch and Pie" on Nine Forward, I will buy the winner lunch (up to $15) at their favorite restaurant. Once a winner is picked by the crew I will contact you in private to make arrangements on purchase/ send your gift card.

Submission DEADLINE:

Because we would like to begin using this as soon as possible I have to add a dead line to ensure I have enough time to get work done. All submissions are due to the Captain's email by Friday June 12th, 2020 before Midnight (EST). Crew voting will last for ONE WEEK on the listserv and on Facebook (possibly).

ELIGIBILITY: Anyone (except me) that is currently an active (SFI) or associate (non-SFI) member of the crew may submit an entry. Only members of the USS Matrix crew are eligible for the actual prize. Only one submission per person will be accepted so make the one you send count.

One last thing. I reserve the right to edit the winning script for length, grammar, and content as necessary to fit the intent of the video.

All, it is my sad duty to report that LTC John Wagner, OIC of our 787th MSG White Knights, died on January 19th. John was a long time member of our crew, active in the Marines and in regional events, and served briefly as XO at one point. He will be sorely missed.
