Franklin County 4-H Therapeutic Riding Center We provide a traditional therapeutic riding program, a program for those on the autism spectrum, and Our program is located on 25 acres in Chambersburg, PA.

The facility consists of a 10-stall barn, 2 outdoor and 1 indoor riding arenas, pastures and trails. Weekly lessons taught by PATH/CECTH certified instructors are available for children and adults with physical and/or mental disabilities. While participating in the program, students will learn riding or driving skills and basic horsemanship skills through mounted and unmounted activities.

This past Saturday, we gathered for our first annual program picnic and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of good food and great company. It was a special opportunity to celebrate and thank our students, volunteers, horse sponsors, and friends whose generosity and dedication make our program possible. The support of our community allows us to continue providing these meaningful experiences, and we are truly grateful. It was a fantastic day filled with laughter, friendship, and gratitude for everyone who helps make our program a success!

The horses in our therapeutic riding program are already transitioning from their summer coats to their winter coats!

Horses begin growing their winter hair based on shorter daylight hours, not just cooler temperatures. This natural process helps keep them comfortable and healthy through the changing seasons.

We love watching these seasonal changes and sharing them with our riders. Every visit to the barn is a chance to learn something new about these amazing animals! โค๏ธ

We are currently looking to add a few members to our Advisory Council. You don't need to know anything about horses. What matters most is a willingness to share your time, ideas, and enthusiasm for helping our program continue to serve riders in our community.

Advisory Council members help provide guidance, support fundraising efforts, build community connections, and contribute to the continued growth and sustainability of our program.
