This is the first direct confirmation from Musk.

He has since used it to wage war against transgender people.

Every year, someone asks why there isn’t a “Straight Pride.”

The answer is actually pretty simple.

Pride didn’t begin because LGBTQ+ people wanted special treatment. Pride began because LGBTQ+ people were criminalized, rejected, silenced, excluded, and told they didn’t belong.

Pride grew out of a movement for visibility, dignity, safety, and equal rights.

The reality is that straight people have never had to fear losing their family, housing, job, marriage rights, military service, or their lives because they were straight.

Pride exists because LGBTQ+ people have experienced all of that.

The short answer to the question is this:

There is no straight pride because no one is being oppressed or killed because they are straight.

June is Pride Month 🌈🏳️‍⚧️

The official theme for Pride Month 2026 is “For All of Us”. This theme reflects a call for unity, inclusion, and solidarity across the LGBTQ+ community & with allies. It emphasizes that Pride is not just for a single group but for everyone who identifies as LGBTQ+ and everyone who supports them.

The nation's first Pride came as a celebration and commemoration of the Stonewall Uprising which took place in 1969, but it is important to remember that q***r people were fighting against oppression well before that.

Whether it was the Compton's Cafeteria Riot in San Francisco (1966 and pictured here), the Sit In at Deweys Lunch Counter in Philadelphia (1965), or the uprising at the Black NIte in Milwaukee (1961) trans and q***r people of color were often in the forefront of these actions.

Today - and every day - we honor their sacrifices and their committment to standing up for our rights. We know that Marsha P Johnson, Silvia Rivera, Miss Major, Stormé DeLarverie, and all of the unnamed others are looking down and standing behind us as we move forward to advance q***r liberation today.

We will continue to rise above the hate and division we see too often across this country, and keep fighting to advance real freedom all across our Commonwealth.
