πŸ“£ Community Share: YMCA Adventure Guides & Adventure Princesses Picnic

Looking for a way to build memories with your kids this year? The YMCA Adventure Guides and Adventure Princesses are hosting a picnic this Sunday from 3–5 p.m. at Forest Field Park β€” and Centerville families are invited.

The group brings together dads and their children in grades K–6 through community, activities, and friendship. The picnic is a casual, no-pressure way to meet current families, ask questions, and see if it's a good fit for you and your kids.

Stop by, grab a bite, and say hello. πŸ‘‹

After 47 years, Alex-Bell Veterinary Clinic is closing its doors.

The clinic announced this week that it will cease operations on October 30.

In its statement, the clinic said it had spent the past several years searching for a veterinarian to take over care of its patients, but was never able to find the right fit. Staff say they're committed to making the transition as smooth as possible for clients and their pets in the weeks ahead.

The team called it their "greatest privilege" to have served Centerville families since 1979 β€” through first puppy visits, senior years, and everything in between.

If Alex-Bell is your vet, now's the time to request your pet's records and start looking at nearby options. There are several well-regarded practices in Centerville, Washington Township, and Springboro still accepting new patients.

A big thank you to the Alex-Bell team for nearly five decades of caring for our four-legged neighbors. 🐾

Have a memory of the clinic or a staff member who made a difference? Share it in the comments.

Centerville has named its next city manager. City council has appointed Michael Norton-Smith to lead the city following a nationwide search. He begins Oct. 12, succeeding Wayne Davis, who retires in September after nine years in the role.

For Norton-Smith, it's a return. He served as Centerville's development director from 2019 to 2022, helping lead the $15 million revitalization of historic Uptown and work tied to Cornerstone of Centerville. He currently serves as city manager in Madeira, where he oversees an $11 million operating budget and a portfolio of more than $35 million in infrastructure and development projects.

"My career has been shaped by my time in Centerville," Norton-Smith said. "Returning here feels like coming home."

Congratulations to Michael β€” and thank you to Wayne Davis for nine years of steady leadership!

Chappys Social House recipes will live on at Zinks Meats & Fine Wines

After almost 20 years, Lori and Dave have sold the building. Saturday, August 29 is the last night of service.

But Chappys lives on β€” longtime manager Sean and his wife Andrea are taking the torch (recipes and all) to their business down the street, Zink's Meats and Deli. The two are becoming one combined Chappys and Zink's. Grand opening details to come.

Stop in before the 29th for one last meal. Staffing is limited these final weeks, so bring some patience β€” and a thank you for Lori and Dave, who are officially trying out this retirement thing.

🎁 Unused Chappys gift cards will be honored at the new spot.
