Congratulations to our Womens' Soccer team on their first round Regional win over Wash last night. The J-Hawks move on to play Linn-Mar Tuesday night, 7:00 PM at Linn-Mar Stadium.

We would like to take a moment to post about ATHLETE OF THE YEAR Harald Batige.

Harald has been a part of our track program for 4 years. After missing his first two seasons due to injury, Harald returned junior year and quickly established himself as an elite sprinter. Since then, he has become a 2x Drake qualifier and 5x State qualifier, cementing his role on 2 record setting relays that also placed at the Drake Relays and State Meet .

What stands out most about Harald though, is the work he’s put in away from the spotlight. This summer, Harald trained on his own every morning at 7am, Monday through Saturday, for the entirety of his summer break (not exaggerating). Once school started, he added early morning workouts at 5am in his driveway and the school parking lot, on top of classes and becoming a XC runner for the first time. This winter, he continued that commitment by giving wrestling a shot and earning a varsity spot in his first season. Harald inspires us as coaches to become the best version of ourselves as possible.

Not only is Harald a devoted athlete, but he makes sure he puts the STUDENT before athlete.

Talk about setting a standard for not just the track program, but all programs within our athletics department. This is true dedication and the perfect example of what it looks like to actually grind for what you want.

Harald, we have loved every second of working with you and wish you the best at Iowa State!

Jefferson history was made last night as long jumper Kamarion Owens, shattered the school record that stood for 48 years! This is near an all-time Iowa best as well! Congratulations Kamarion! Jefferson is proud of you!
