ANNOUNCEMENT
Meet candidates for local and state offices and ask questions regarding our community.
There will be a Candidates Forum at the Cedar Mountain Community Center (CMCC) on Saturday, September 5, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This is a great opportunity to bring your questions and discuss local issues directly with the candidates for the Transylvania County School Board, County Commission, and the NC House and Senate. All Democratic candidates are scheduled to attend, and refreshments will be provided. Hope to see many of you there! Refreshments will be available.

CEDAR MOUNTAIN FIRE/RESCUE FUNDRAISER.
Join us for our Fire Department Fundraiser this Saturday, September 5th, at the Fire Station starting at 11 AM and ends when the chicken is gone. Tickets are a $17 donation, which includes a delicious meal of 1/4 chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, and a cookie. Please come out, bring your friends and neighbors, and help us raise funds for essential new equipment. We appreciate your support—after all; our next alarm could be for you!

Dr. Paul Williams, MD will discuss his book, When All Plans Fail, written to help communities be ready for disasters. Dr. Williams founded International HealthCare Network, linking organizations in humanitarian outreaches and ministry. He has made over 200 medical mission trips including relief efforts in Indonesia, Philippines, Africa and others.

HOMECOMING AT ROCKY HILL BAPTIST CHURCH
The 151st year of worship at Rocky Hill Baptist Church will be celebrated this Sunday, August 24th at 10:30 am. Pastor Cliff McKnight and the church family would like to invite all to join with us. The Rev. Ralph Lee, Jr., will bring the message.

FALL CANTEEN GOLF LEAGUE STARTS SEPTEMBER 1 @ 5:30 PM
The Canteen’s Tuesday evening golf league is back for Fall. The league will begin September 1st and will run through October 27th. All levels are welcome for a relaxed walk around Sherwood Forest Golf Course. Weekly blind draw 2 person teams with daily and season winners.

CEDAR MOUNTAIN ROTARY CLUB
David Summey, the Chief of the Cedar Mountain Fire and Rescue, will be the speaker at the meeting of the Cedar Mountain Rotary Club on Monday, August 17th at the Cedar Mountain Community Center at 5:30 pm. The Cedar Mountain Fire District covers a large area extending into South Carolina. During any time of the year we all need to be vigilant in helping to prevent forest and structure fires.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who donated blood at the Cedar Mountain Fire/Rescue blood drive last Saturday. There were 37 donors! Celebration of America’s 250th Birthday
Come join your neighbors in celebrating America’s 250th Birthday at the July Potluck scheduled for July 13th. Bring your favorite summer dish to share. Please have your food on the table by 6:15 PM and the meal will begin at 6:30 PM. A 250th Birthday cake and ice cream will be provided. There will be a sing-a-long of several patriotic songs and a quiz bowl with questions/answers on the founding of America. Test your knowledge on our country’s history.

BRISKET FUNDRAISER
Hello everyone! Please come out for the Cedar Mountain Volunteer Fire and Rescue Brisket Dinner on Sunday, July 5th, starting at 12:30 PM at the Cedar Mountain Canteen, located at 10771 Greenville Highway in Cedar Mountain. We are offering brisket plates for $18 and vegan plates for $10, with each meal featuring a Greek salad and a baked potato. It’s a fantastic way to celebrate our nation's 250th birthday while backing our dedicated fire and rescue team. We will also have event t-shirts for sale.
