Come meet our adoptable dogs and enjoy a fun day in the forest! Our 3-mile round-trip hike to the beautiful Wintergreen Falls kicks off at 11 AM! The trail is flat and shaded, making it perfect for the whole family.

UPDATE: Tilly has been adopted!

What is it about hound dogs that makes them so special? Loyal? Yes. Affectionate? You'd better believe it. Intelligent? In SO many ways!

Tilly is all of these things, and more. A 3-yr old Plott Hound mix, this sweet, athletic girl weighs in at a svelte 42 lbs. In the short time that she's been at Almost Home, she's made friends with EVERYONE, and is both relaxed and playful with all of the pups and humans that she encounters.

Tilly has a gorgeous short, sleek, glossy brindle coat that requires very little brushing or special care. This striking feature is only surpassed by her sweet, gentle nature and trusting, soulful eyes. She really is a beauty.

Focused and "all business" one minute, goofy and playful the next, Tilly demonstrates daily the versatility and flexibility of her primary breed. As the state dog of North Carolina, the Plott hound possess a world-class nose and stamina for tracking (which translates easily into the consummate hiking or running companion!)

Tilly is a quick learner who would excel in dog sports like agility and scent work, in addition to being a loyal and loving family pet. She is already excelling at her "good girl" skills and leash walking. She is house trained, spayed, vaccinated, and ready for someone to make her part of their family.

Sweet Tilly is astutely aware of her surroundings at all times. It's a blast watching her race around with the other pups, only to screech to a stop, ears up and tail up when she hears a noise or picks up an unfamiliar scent long before the other dogs are aware. Once she determines that all is well, she quickly shifts back to play mode or cuddle time with ease.

She runs the playground, fast and free,

Genie believes this world is the most delightful place. Spend a few minutes with her, and you'll believe it too!

A 3-year-old beautiful mixed breed, our sweet Genie is a bundle of joy packed into 39 lbs. She loves learning new things and picks up on tricks and training super quickly. In fact, she's going through official training courses right now!

She will thrive with a forever family that loves adventures as much as she does. Genie is the perfect sidekick to explore downtown, hike the forest trails, keep you company on long runs, and frolic with the neighborhood kids.

A social girl, she's great with children and other dogs. And after a proper introduction she is happy with everyone she meets, making her the consummate "conversation magnet" as you wander through town or visit the local brewery.

Genie continues to diligently practice all of her "good-girl" skills!. In addition, she is house trained, crate trained, spayed, and vaccinated. She promises to bring you a lifetime of wagging tails, happy adventures, and unconditional love.
