🎓📚 BTC Academic Celebration – Congratulations to All of Our Students! 📚🎓

As the month of May comes to an end, so does another important academic semester for many of our BTC University, Vocational Training, and High School Completion students. Today, the entire BTC family pauses to recognize and celebrate the hard work, discipline, sacrifices, and determination shown by all of our students and Marielys, our BTC Director of Education during these past months.

Education is not easy. Many of you students balance school while facing financial pressures, transportation challenges, family responsibilities, work obligations, and the daily struggles of life. Yet, despite those challenges, you continued to move forward. You studied late at night, attended classes, completed assignments, prepared for exams, and refused to give up on your future.

That determination reflects exactly what BREAK THESE CHAINS is all about.

Every class passed… Every exam completed… Every assignment turned in… Every early morning and late night of studying…

…is another chain being broken.

We are extremely proud of every single BTC student—whether you are studying at the university level, enrolled in vocational training, or working hard to complete high school. Success is not measured only by perfect grades. Success is measured by perseverance, growth, commitment, and the courage to continue moving forward even when life becomes difficult.

To our students: Thank you for representing BTC with excellence, discipline, and integrity. Your hard work is building a better future not only for yourselves, but also for your families and your communities.

🎓📚 BTC Academic Excellence Recognition 📚🎓

This morning, I want to recognize the incredible academic efforts of our BTC students enrolled in University studies, Vocational Training programs, and High School Completion studies.

The journey of education is not easy. Life brings many competing priorities—work, family responsibilities, financial pressures, transportation challenges, and daily stress. Yet each of you has made a powerful decision: you have chosen to fight for a better future for yourselves and for your families.
That decision deserves respect.

At BREAK THESE CHAINS (BTC), we believe education is one of the strongest tools for breaking the chains of poverty and building long-term independence. Every class attended, every assignment completed, every exam passed, and every late night of studying is another step toward success.

Today, I want to recognize these hardworking students:

2 independent colmados (mini-markets), 3 ice cream and yogurt shops, and 2 online clothing boutiques.

Agriculture & Livestock:

2 cattle ranchers, 4 pig farmers, a 100-chicken operation, and a young entrepreneur managing 15 beehives for honey production.

Arts & Skilled Trades:

A recording artist producing YouTube content, a successful barbershop, and a professional moto/car wash and detailing service.

Health & Wellness:

4 nail technicians, 3 beauticians, a natural health specialist, and a massage and physical therapy practice—with another therapist preparing to launch.

Technical & Specialized Services:

A home and business security installer, a mixologist in training for private events, and an upcoming wholesale supplier.

Investing in Women Leaders:

We recently celebrated six women entrepreneurs who completed a specialized workshop focused on launching and sustaining businesses in the Dominican Republic—equipping them with the tools needed for long-term success.

4 técnicas de uñas, 3 esteticistas, una especialista en salud natural y un consultorio de masajes y fisioterapia, con otro terapeuta preparándose para iniciar su actividad.

Servicios técnicos y especializados:

Un instalador de sistemas de seguridad para hogares y negocios, un mixólogo en formación para eventos privados y un futuro proveedor mayorista.

Invirtiendo en mujeres líderes
Recientemente celebramos a seis mujeres emprendedoras que completaron un taller especializado centrado en el lanzamiento y la sostenibilidad de negocios en la República Dominicana, dotándolas de las herramientas necesarias para alcanzar el éxito a largo plazo.

BTC Food Security Department Progress Update:

Under the leadership of Director Aneuris Mejia Reyes, the Food Security Department is making significant strides in its mission to ensure that no member of the BTC family—especially our children—ever goes to bed hungry.

Immediate Relief - The Emergency Pantry:

We have officially established an Emergency Pantry stocked with essential staples like rice, oil, and beans. This resource is available at any time for BTC families facing urgent food and financial shortages, providing a vital safety net for those in need.

The Shared Harvest Farm & Home Gardening:

The Shared Harvest Farm continues to develop at a healthy pace, serving as the cornerstone of our long-term sustainability.

Family Gardens:

We continue to encourage all members to maintain personal gardens on their own properties to supplement their household supply. We have also planted many citrus trees on every yard.

Crop Production:

Recent plantings include nutritious staples such as yuca and okra. Days to supplement other nutritious vegetables that we have in the ground already.

Livestock Expansion:

We are transitioning into animal husbandry with the near-completion of a pig pen designed for up to 10 pigs.

Innovative Resource Management:

To ensure the farm remains cost-effective, Aneuris has secured creative feed solutions for our livestock:

The local prison warden, moved by the BTC mission, has committed to providing 12 buckets of surplus food weekly.

Supplemental feed is also being provided through contributions from Aneuris’ primary place of employment.

Community Involvement & Future Vision:

Success at the farm is a collective effort. Every Sunday is Volunteer Day, where BTC family members gather to work the land together.

Our ultimate strategic goal is the establishment of a Food Distribution Center. This hub will provide monthly supplies to ensure every BTC household has access to a balanced diet.

By strengthening immune systems and reducing illness through proper nutrition, we are laying the groundwork for the long-term success of every individual in our community. After all, true success is only possible when our most basic needs are met.

Bajo el liderazgo del Director Aneuris Mejia Reyes, el Departamento de Seguridad Alimentaria está logrando avances significativos en su misión de garantizar que ningún miembro de la comunidad de BTC, especialmente nuestros niños, se acueste con hambre.

Ayuda Inmediata - Despensa de Emergencia:

Hemos establecido oficialmente una Despensa de Emergencia con productos básicos esenciales como arroz, aceite y frijoles. Este recurso está disponible en cualquier momento para las familias de BTC que enfrentan escasez urgente de alimentos y dinero, brindando una red de seguridad vital para quienes lo necesitan.

Granja de Cosecha Compartida y Huertos Familiares:

La Granja de Cosecha Compartida continúa desarrollándose a buen ritmo, siendo la piedra angular de nuestra sostenibilidad a largo plazo.

Huertos Familiares:

Seguimos animando a todos los miembros a mantener huertos personales en sus propiedades para complementar su suministro familiar. También hemos plantado muchos cítricos en cada patio.

Producción de Cultivos:

Entre las siembras recientes se incluyen alimentos básicos nutritivos como la yuca y el quimbombó. Días dedicados a complementar el cultivo de otras verduras nutritivas que ya tenemos en la tierra.

BTC Health Services Update

Our Health Services Department, led by Director and nurse Beljica Brito, plays a vital role in advancing the BTC mission. We recognize that long-term success is closely tied to good health, and our efforts are focused heavily on prevention and access to care.

To date, we have distributed more than 30 mosquito nets, fumigated the majority of BTC family homes, and addressed numerous dental needs. We also ensure that women in our program receive regular pap smears and mammograms, and we have provided eyeglasses for those with vision impairments. In addition, we are working to ensure that every BTC child receives an annual dental cleaning. BTC pays for many of the prescribed medicines for our families.

Health education is a consistent priority. Beljica regularly shares lessons on hygiene and wellness through our WhatsApp “Grupo Motivacional,” page helping families build strong daily health habits.

Through our partnership with Wine to Water, we have distributed over 30 water filters, providing safe, potable water to our families. We also install rainwater harvesting systems to support water needs for kitchens and bathrooms.

With the help of donations, we distribute essential hygiene items—including toothpaste, toothbrushes, wipes, soap, and hand sanitizer—to all BTC family members.

Beljica also works closely with local healthcare providers to secure reduced-cost services for our families.

Beljica's husband Felipe helps her a lot with the fumigation initiative.

One of our BTC family members, Alejandrina, is a certified physical and massage therapist and provides therapy support to our folks. We also have another physical therapist in training, Yennifer, who soon will be able to provide the same services.

These combined efforts are designed to improve overall quality of life while equipping individuals to succeed in their education, family responsibilities, and entrepreneurial pursuits.

We are proud of the dedication and impact of Beljica and her health team.

Actualización de los Servicios de Salud de BTC

Nuestro Departamento de Servicios de Salud, dirigido por la directora y enfermera Beljica Brito, desempeña un papel vital en el avance de la misión de BTC. Reconocemos que el éxito a largo plazo está estrechamente vinculado a una buena salud, y nuestros esfuerzos se centran en gran medida en la prevención y el acceso a la atención médica.

BTC EDUCATION UPDATE:

Under the leadership of Marielys, our Director of Education, the BTC academic program continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of BTC families.

As of May 2026, our 11 university students are completing their first semester of this year. Ireidy will be our first University graduate (Education major) later on this year. In September we anticipate adding three more University students supported by BTC.

We also have seven students enrolled in vocational programs, many of whom are finishing their training this month. Their areas of study include nursing, x-ray technician, physical therapy, phlebotomy, mixologist, upholstery repair, beautician, and English.

We also have three students working toward high school completion. All three students are in the top 5% of their classes.

In addition to formal education, our students have participated in multiple vocational workshops to strengthen their business skills.

Our youngest learners, ages 2 to 10, are engaged in an innovative and effective early education program.

Across all age groups, we provide active tutoring support and a daily mini-lesson system delivered through WhatsApp to reinforce consistent learning.

We have distributed nearly 20 computers, and all of our students are gaining experience using artificial intelligence tools to support both their academic work and entrepreneurial efforts.

We also ensure that gifted students are challenged, while providing additional support to those who need help navigating academic demands.

The results reflect this commitment. Last university semester, our students completed 55 courses with only one failed class.

At BTC, we recognize that education and entrepreneurship are essential to breaking the cycle of poverty, and we intentionally invest significant resources into these areas. Our students understand the value of these opportunities and consistently demonstrate strong work ethic and determination in their academic journeys.

We are extremely proud of the progress each student has made.

ACTUALIZACIÓN EDUCATIVA DE BTC:

Bajo el liderazgo de Marielys, nuestra Directora de Educación, el programa académico de BTC continúa generando un impacto significativo en las vidas de las familias de BTC.

A mayo de 2026, nuestros 11 estudiantes universitarios se encuentran completando su primer semestre del año. Ireidy será nuestra primera graduada universitaria (con especialización en Educación) más adelante este mismo año. En septiembre, prevemos incorporar a tres estudiantes universitarios más bajo el apoyo de BTC.

También contamos con siete estudiantes inscritos en programas de formación vocacional; muchos de ellos están finalizando su capacitación este mes. Sus áreas de estudio incluyen enfermería, técnico en radiología, fisioterapia, flebotomía, coctelería (mixología), reparación de tapicería, estética y el idioma inglés.

Asimismo, tenemos tres estudiantes trabajando para completar su educación secundaria. Los tres se sitúan en el 5% superior de sus respectivas clases.

Además de la educación formal, nuestros estudiantes han participado en múltiples talleres vocacionales destinados a fortalecer sus habilidades empresariales.

Nuestros alumnos más jóvenes —con edades comprendidas entre los 2 y los 10 años— participan en un programa de educación temprana innovador y eficaz.

En todos los grupos de edad, ofrecemos un apoyo activo mediante tutorías, así como un sistema diario de «minilecciones» impartidas a través de WhatsApp, con el fin de reforzar la continuidad del aprendizaje.

Hemos distribuido cerca de 20 computadoras, y todos nuestros estudiantes están adquiriendo experiencia en el uso de herramientas de inteligencia artificial para respaldar tanto su trabajo académico como sus iniciativas emprendedoras.

También nos aseguramos de que los estudiantes con altas capacidades intelectuales reciban desafíos adecuados, al tiempo que brindamos apoyo adicional a aquellos que necesitan ayuda para afrontar las exigencias académicas.

Los resultados reflejan este compromiso: durante el último semestre universitario, nuestros estudiantes completaron 55 asignaturas, registrando un solo curso reprobado.

En BTC, reconocemos que la educación y el emprendimiento son fundamentales para romper el ciclo de la pobreza; por ello, invertimos de manera intencional y significativa nuestros recursos en estas áreas. Nuestros estudiantes comprenden el valor de estas oportunidades y demuestran, de forma constante, una sólida ética de trabajo y una gran determinación en su trayectoria académica.

BTC Construction Update

Over the past two months, our Construction Department has made strong progress across multiple projects, continuing to improve living conditions for our BTC families.

Lucia and Dilio’s home is now approximately 99% complete, with only the installation of closets and a shower door remaining.

At the same time, ceramic tile installation is underway in Adali’s home, which is about 95% finished. We anticipate that she and her three children will be able to move in within the next month.

At Juanita’s home, we have removed the existing kitchen, laundry area, and bathroom, and are replacing them with new block structures. This project is expected to be completed within the next two months.

Looking ahead, our next major project will be the construction of a new home for Beljica, Felipe, and their three children.

In preparation for future growth, we have also purchased land for two additional wooden homes scheduled for construction in 2027.

Next year we hope to break ground on our new "Emancipation Center" . This new multi-use BTC building will house class rooms for the Department of Education as well as a health services operational area, the food distribution center, our emergency pantry, a refuge for abused women and administrative offices.

Beyond residential work, our team installed two overhead fans in a local church and is planning floor repairs there later this summer.

We also completed a small home addition for on
e of our family members, enabling her to operate both an online and local business.

These ongoing projects continue to serve as hands-on training opportunities, allowing many BTC family members to develop valuable construction skills while also providing employment.

Under the leadership of Cristian, our Director of Construction, and logistical support from our Director of Operation Julio, this department has made a significant impact over the past year.

Safe and stable housing remains a critical foundation for meeting the fundamental needs of our families and advancing the BTC mission.

Actualización de Construcción de BTC

Durante los últimos dos meses, nuestro Departamento de Construcción ha logrado un sólido progreso en múltiples proyectos, continuando así con la mejora de las condiciones de vida de nuestras familias de BTC.

La vivienda de Lucía y Dilio se encuentra ahora completada en aproximadamente un 99%, restando únicamente la instalación de los armarios y la puerta de la ducha.

Simultáneamente, se está llevando a cabo la instalación de pisos de cerámica en la casa de Adali, la cual está terminada en cerca de un 95%. Anticipamos que ella y sus tres hijos podrán mudarse a la vivienda en el transcurso del próximo mes.

En la casa de Juanita, hemos retirado la cocina, el área de lavandería y el baño existentes, y los estamos reemplazando por nuevas estructuras de bloques. Se prevé que este proyecto quede finalizado dentro de los próximos dos meses.

De cara al futuro, nuestro próximo gran proyecto será la construcción de una nueva vivienda para Beljica, Felipe y sus tres hijos.

Como preparación para nuestro crecimiento futuro, también hemos adquirido terrenos para la construcción de dos viviendas adicionales de madera, cuya ejecución está programada para el año 2027.

El próximo año esperamos iniciar las obras de nuestro nuevo «Centro de Emancipación». El centro albergará aulas para nuestro Departamento de Educación, áreas operativas de Servicios de Salud, un refugio para mujeres víctimas de abuso, el centro de distribución de alimentos, nuestra despensa de emergencia y las oficinas administrativas de BTC.

Más allá de los trabajos residenciales, nuestro equipo instaló dos ventiladores de techo en una iglesia local y tiene planificadas reparaciones en el piso de la misma para más adelante este verano.

Asimismo, completamos una pequeña ampliación en la vivienda de uno de los miembros de nuestra familia, lo que le permitirá gestionar tanto un negocio en línea como uno local.

Estos proyectos en curso continúan sirviendo como oportunidades de capacitación práctica, permitiendo a muchos miembros de las familias de BTC desarrollar valiosas habilidades en el ámbito de la construcción, al tiempo que les brindan empleo.

Bajo el liderazgo de Cristian, nuestro Director de Construcción, y un excelente apoyo logístico de nuestro Director de Operaciones Julio, este departamento ha generado un impacto significativo a lo largo del último año.

Una vivienda segura y estable sigue constituyendo un pilar fundamental para satisfacer las necesidades básicas de nuestras familias y para el avance de la misión de BTC.
