St Baldrick's of Western North Carolina Part of the larger organization: St Baldrick's Foundation, the largest private, nonprofit fundraising organization dedicated to childhood cancer research.

A 501-c organization. Individuals and groups can join St Baldrick's Foundation as donors, participants, sponsors, and as volunteer event organizers, which is what I am--a VEO for our community. All funds we raise go to St Baldrick's and 82 cents of every dollar goes directly to research. As a mom of a childhood cancer survivor, I have been involved one way or another with St Baldrick's since 2005, and before that, with other organizations (Leukemia and Lymphoma Society was our go-to since Becky had leukemia). Then, 2017, I started my own team, and later formed my own group here in Transylvania County. We have held annual bowling tournaments, Strike Out Childhood Cancer, for seven years; additionally, we organized head-shaving events in 2018, 2019, and 2020--to date WNC residents have helped us raise over $100,000 towards childhood cancer research.
