Meet Rhonda: Art Coordinator 🎨

This will be Rhonda's 5th yr at GRP. She loves living and working here. Rhonda used to teach Art in public schools, but now gets to combine her passion for Art and plants by teaching Nature Art, aka Arts & Crafts.

She has the best commute to work (from the Farm to Base Camp!). She continues to learn as much as she can from Farmer Geoff about gardening. This year her "experiment" is an herb and flower garden along the fence next to the Lodge.

Whether you're a new or veteran Staff, she invites you to use the Arts Lodge as a place of quiet, art making, or hanging with Dehlia (like Celia) for some puppy therapy!

Meet Li: Mentor

With three life-changing summers under their belt, Li is thrilled to be back at the Green River Preserve for their fourth! A native of New Mexico and a current resident of Upstate South Carolina, Li is excited to return to the Preserve as a mentor and continue inspiring curiosity and creativity in campers and counselors alike. During the school year, Li leads an afterschool program, but in their free time, Li is an avid writer, visual artist, and musician with more projects under their belt than they can count! They look forward to teaching art and leading hikes this summer.

12,000 eggs and a whole lot of heart 🥚💚 🐓🐣

Last year, our little flock at Green River Preserve produced over 12,000 eggs — with nearly 6,000 used in the camp kitchen and another 6,000 donated to help feed our community.

As we get ready for another camp season, we’re grateful for all the small but meaningful ways the farm is part of daily life at GRP. From camper breakfasts to lessons in stewardship and caring for the land, these hens help nourish more than just hungry campers.

Meet Tali: Camp Counselor

Tali is a lifelong lover of nature and camp. She's spent the past few years exploring the Appalachian mountains through camping, hiking, and rock climbing. When she's not enjoying the outdoors you can find her learning more about our amazing natural world in the College of Natural Resources and Environment at Virginia Tech. Tali
grew up going to sleepaway camp and was formed by the incredible friendships, adventures, and lessons she experienced there. She has spent several years working as a day camp counselor teaching kids how to rock climb, make art out of natural materials, and most importantly, have as much fun as possible! This will be Tali's first summer at GPR ,and she can't wait for all the adventure's, stories, and friendships to come! 💚

Meet Sarah Scott: Camp Doctor 🩺

Sarah Scott first discovered Green River Preserve as a camper—and she’s been finding her way back ever since. This summer marks her third year serving as a camp doctor and her ninth summer connected to GRP in some capacity.

GRP is truly a family affair for SarahScott. 💚 This year also marks her seventh year as a GRP parent, with all three of her own campers attending Base Camp sessions in 2026.

A graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine, Sarah Scott has served as a physician in the Air Force and in a variety of primary care roles throughout her career. She brings both deep medical experience and a warm, caring presence to the Health Hut each summer.

When she’s not caring for campers and staff, Sarah Scott enjoys crafting, baking, and finding joy in everyday moments.
