Due to ongoing lightning in the area and significant rainfall since yesterday, we are canceling tonight’s Blue Ghost Firefly viewing out of an abundance of caution.

Our trails and viewing areas near the lake have taken on a substantial amount of rain. At this time, the best thing we can do for both guest safety and conservation is to keep people off the trails and out of the forest this evening and allow these areas time to rest and recover.

We appreciate your patience, your understanding, and your support of our commitment to safety and conservation as we move forward together.

We have added an additional special viewing date for Sunday, May 31st. Guests are welcome to transfer their tickets to May 31st or to any other upcoming available tour date.

We are back with Whole Life Rhythm, radiating rhythm from the mountain! Our weekly drum circle is back every Wednesday from 6-7:30, and a very special last Sunday of the month Beats & Eats community drum circle and potluck! This is a facilitated drum circle, where you will be learning rhythms. All ages and stages are welcome as long as they are able to learn in a workshop environment.

Update: Weekend activities canceled due to statewide burn ban

We are writing to share an important update regarding this weekend’s scheduled events. Due to the ongoing statewide burn ban issued by the North Carolina Forestry Department, which currently includes all 100 counties, we are unable to move forward with our planned gatherings. As much as we were looking forward to being together, the restrictions prevent us from safely holding the bonfire and heating the rocks for the lodge. In honoring both the law and the well-being of our land and community, we must cancel this weekend’s events. Our hearts are with all those affected by the wildfires across the state. We are holding prayers for swift containment, safety for all involved, and healing for the land.

We deeply appreciate your understanding and your willingness to walk in alignment with care and respect for these circumstances. We look forward to welcoming you back on the mountain very soon, when it is safe to gather again.

Join us at Terra Nova Center for a deeply special Easter Weekend Community Gathering—a two-day experience of connection, ceremony, and renewal on the land. This gathering is intentionally open and flexible. You are welcome to join for any part of the weekend—whether that’s sharing a meal, sitting by the fire, camping under the stars, or participating in the Sweat Lodge sunrise ceremony.

Saturday — Community Gathering
Arrive in the afternoon to settle into the land. We’ll begin the evening with a community potluck, followed by a bonfire by the lake. As night falls, we’ll gather together for Cherokee storytelling and songs with Yona Frenchhawk, along with a fire performance on the beach by James Graham. This is a time for presence, connection, and shared experience in community.

Sunday — Sunrise Sweat Lodge Ceremony
Before dawn, we’ll gather and travel together to welcome the day. Participants will move through a powerful early morning ceremonial experience, emerging together at sunrise. We’ll then return to the chapel for a breakfast potluck, beginning Easter Sunday in reflection, gratitude, and community.

Camping and lodging are available for those who wish to stay on the land, and a limited number of volunteer opportunities are open for those called to serve in exchange for their stay.

We feel deeply grateful to hold this space—
a time to move through darkness into light, together.

We’re excited to welcome the return of our Weekly Community Drum Circle at Terra Nova Center, facilitated by Whole Life Rhythm. Beginning Wednesday, April 1st, and continuing each Wednesday from 6:30–8 PM, this all experience level gathering invites you to come as you are and join in the rhythm. Whether you’ve been drumming for years or have never picked one up, you are welcome here.

You don’t need to bring anything—we have a wide variety of drums and noise makers available for everyone to use. Of course, you’re welcome to bring your own if you feel led. These drum circles have become something truly special to our community. Now in our second year of hosting, we are deeply grateful to continue this tradition and to have Derm back on the mountain, guiding us in rhythm, connection, and shared energy.

We are excited to share that the Brigade of Light will soon be celebrating the ordination of our 2025/26 Ministerial Candidates.

This is a meaningful moment for our community as these candidates complete their training and step forward in service. Their journey reflects dedication, spiritual growth, and a deep commitment to serving others.

The Ordination Ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 8th at 11:00 AM in The Lighthouse Chapel at Terra Nova Center.

All are warmly welcome to attend and witness this special occasion. Following the ceremony, we will gather for a potluck reception and fellowship, and guests are encouraged to bring a dish to share if they are able.

Moments like this remind us that ministry is not just about individual calling, but about community—supporting one another as we grow, serve, and walk the path of love, peace, and service together. We hope you will join us for this joyful day.
