Casper Humane Society

Casper Humane Society We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill animal shelter. Proudly serving our community for more than 75 years.

We are a non-profit, no-kill shelter in Casper, Wyoming. We have been a part of our community for over 65 years. As a non-profit, we do not receive any government funding and rely solely on the support of donors. Our role in the community is very important and while many people don't know the extent of our work, on any given day, we are home to more than 100 animals ranging from dogs and cats to g

uinea pigs, rats, reptiles, and birds. Not only do we provide basic care such as feeding and cleaning their living space, it is important to us that our animals receive spaying/neutering, vaccines, deworming, and microchipping, socialization, exercise, positive stimulation, training, and extensive vet care. Our time and attention is necessary to ensure our standards are met and our animals remain happy, healthy, and confident as they search for their new homes. On average, we find homes for nearly 500 animals every year. Our devotion to finding the best placement for each individual enables our ability to maintain a changing population and continue helping others in need. It is our daily goal to ensure animals that come into our care are healthy or nursed back to health and feel love and comfort during a vulnerable time in their lives, with the help of our volunteers alongside our staff, we are able to make this possible. "Our mission is to provide shelter, medical care, and love and to find quality homes for animals in our care. To educate the community about the humane treatment and the importance of spay/neuter and vaccination of animals"

The weather is weathering. The orange is oranging. And, Peanut is here to provide your daily dose of serotonin. β˜€

He's cute, he's sweet, a little unhinged, but non-conformity has never looked so dang good. 😎 Peanut was adopted and returned to us because... well, let's just say a designer bag hates to see him comin' (yeah, he chewed up a purse... or two). He's not accepting questions on the matter, so he's going to keep being adorbs and hold onto his little secrets. Hey, it's his first time living, too, and sometimes the orange in him can't be tamed. BUT, he deserves love, patience, and probably a nice, quiet room to settle into for a few weeks before being integrated into the general population. New places, new people, new pets, it can all be overwhelming, and we don't know if you noticed, but have you seen his face? πŸ€” This is the face of a baby. A very delicate and sensitive, sometimes reactive baby. With time and your unconditional lurve, he will break free from his chains and put his brain cell to work, figuring out ways to encapsulate your heart with his innocent, playful, and gentle ways. He wants nothing more than to sit on our laps, play together with his toys, and stare blankly at you until you can no longer handle the intensity of his Peanutness. πŸ‘€ He really does do well with everyone he meets, the other cats in the colony room, and even dogs. If he could just have one more chance, and maybe a little more time to feel confident and comfortable, we know he will steal your hearts the same way he has stolen ours. πŸ₯Ή

If you are an experienced orange cat aficionado, we think Peanut may be the special boy you've been looking for. ✨

Today please join us in celebrating Adam's Birthday! πŸŽ‰

Some of you might recognize Adam. He worked with us several years ago as an Animal Care Tech. Adam returned to us last year and is our Building & Grounds guy.

Whether he is doing yard work, painting or doing repairs around the shelter, he is helping to make sure we look as good as possible. πŸ˜‰

Thank you, Adam, for all your hard work! Happy Birthday! πŸŽ‚

Say hello to Dilly and Dally! Your new reasons to avoid folding that laundry, running that errand, and going on that outing you really didn't feel like going to. ✨ They're here to provide you with ALL of the heartwarming entertainment you could possibly dream of, and let us tell ya, they mean business. These kits are in the art of bouncing, roughhousing, being A D O R A B L E, and you know we can't forget the teeny tiny purs that echo into your ears, and make you want to be the greatest cat parent possible. 😽 They're only 3 months old, so we're talking about a long, long life ahead of them, being your most prized and cherished Tabby princes. They don't expect your heart on a platter or anything (or do they? πŸ€”). Still, they need someone committed to their care, their wellness, their livelihood, and ultimately, their totally realistic demand for all the yummies and toys that money can buy. They're busy, they're curious, what can we say? Give the boyz some toyz. πŸ’ͺ When they aren't being totally wild and honestly, hilarious, they are little piles of mush. These youngins want to feel safe, and they yearn for your love and comfort. There isn't a single problem their cuddles can't fix, and they have a lot to go around. So, what do ya say? Are you ready for a little Dillying and Dallying in your life? 🫢

Dilly and Dally are neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. All they need now is you! Don't forget to stop by the shelter tomorrow, we will be open from 12 pm - 5 pm. ✨

Hey CHS supporters.

To say we've had a crazy week is an understatement, and right now, we could use your help.

The past couple of days have been filled with an overwhelming mix of emotions. Honestly, sometimes we expect something bad, and we're met with something worse. Maybe that's just the way the dog biscuit crumbles.

Last Friday, an accidental litter of 9 puppies was surrendered to us. We were told there were 10, but one died in the home from unknown circumstances. Within hours of their intake, we began to learn exactly what those circumstances were, and it was not pretty.

All of the puppies were unable to keep food down without vomiting. But the contents of their vomit are what told us just how serious a problem we had on our hands, and we needed to act fast. The puppies were taken to Rocky Mountain Animal Hospital in groups, where they received fluid support, medications, and x-rays.

All of the puppies were experiencing intestinal blockage. 4 out of 9 puppies had to have surgery to remove a tremendous amount of paper towels, rubber, and plastic. Others were able to pass the foreign bodies on their own with medicinal assistance, consisting of the same material, sticks, and sizable rocks.

As you can all imagine, 9 puppies receiving veterinary care can quickly rack up a bill, but extensive medical emergencies to this degree are another level. $11, 518.88 to be exact. This was the total cost in time and resources to give these puppies the fighting chance they deserve. We want to extend our gratitude to Rocky Mountain Animal Hospital, not only for helping us help them, but also for their generosity in reducing the total of $11,518.88 to $5,637.02. Words will never be enough, but we appreciate you.

Regardless, no price was going to waver our commitment to doing everything humanly possible to avoid another of these puppies from losing their lives. The stark reality of this situation is that had these puppies not made their way into our care, we can confidently say that many, if not all, would not be alive today. We are thankful to report that all 9 of the puppies are doing well and on their road to recovery and living the lives they absolutely deserve.

As a non-profit organization, our ability to save lives is dependent on the generosity of our supporters. Without all of you, many animals would never receive the basic or critical care they need to receive a second chance.

If you are able, please consider donating not only to help cover the cost of these puppies' care, but to help us continue providing necessary medical care to all of our animals. Our vet bill averages $10,000 each month. Consisting of spaying, neutering, dentals, bloodwork, daily medications, health testing, chronic disease management, and in many instances, life saving emergency care. Every donation helps.

From the bottom of our hearts, our animals and we THANK YOU. 🀍

In case you needed a little positivity today, Mouse has you covered! We love a black lab around here. They're charming, bubbly, and let's be honest, a walking ray of sunshine. But, Mouse? She's a special lady. She stares at you with a gleam in her eyes that makes waking up every morning feel purposeful. She's here to be your reason, and you won't find a better one. 😘 Her priorities lie with her people, and this attentive girly is going to spend every second making sure you feel loved... and probably watched because what are you doing, and can she do it with you? πŸ«₯ She's giving "personal space is a government conspiracy," but you know what? We love it, and we think you will too. Picture it now, after every long day, sitting out in the grass to enjoy the sunset with the most precious companion by your side, devoted to the warmth in your heart and making sure you take a second to really appreciate the things around you. It doesn't get any better than that, folks. 🫢 Mouse fancies a good swim and maybe a game of chasing toys, bringing them back? Not so much. But it brings a smile to her face, and after a much needed dental, she deserves to flaunt those pearly whites. πŸ’… An active family who will really ensure she is an integral part of their world and routines is all she could ever hope for, and it would be a CRIME to deny such a well mannered queen that right. She is going to be there not just for you, but for the kiddos, heck, even the cats if you have 'em, but ultimately, we think she will do best in a home with male dogs. At only 6 years old, she still has so much to give, and it will be life's greatest honor to be on the receiving end of her unwavering loyalty. πŸ₯Ή

If you're a Lab enthusiast, don't waste a second. Mouse is going to fill that void in your heart and be an absolute dream come true. AND, does she smell another trip to Unleashed Dog Bakery in her future? πŸ‘€

Can we show up for the black cats who do great with kids, cats, and dogs? πŸ₯Ή

We want to be really real for a second. Luna is wonderful. In all honesty, she is probably the most laid back cat that we have. She never fusses, she never fights, she literally just lives her life one day at a time. Despite all of the change she's experienced, she carries herself unbothered, yet full of love. But it just hasn't been enough to gain the attention she deserves. How? We. Don't. Know. But let's change that because she deserves it! So, here's to the 8 year old, black cat, with the charming quarter tail, who never creates chaos, provides the people around her with her time, attention, and the best companionship adoption will ever get you. We see you, girl, and we hope that everyone will see you for all that you are. Living gold with silky black fur and a heart bigger than the sun. πŸ–€ Luna has been waiting for her forever family since last Summer. Don't sleep on our lady of the night. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Please, like, comment, and share to help our sweet friend receive the visibility she needs. And, don't forget to take the time to stop by and meet her. We promise you will not be disappointed. ✨

Alright, everyone. Enjoy the view and give us your best caption for the second photo of Miss Biscuit. Come on, spread a little laughter, we know we have some creative baddies up in here. 🫢

Also, our senior biscuitzen would like to remind you all that she is still sassy, sweet, and available for adoption. Literally, she is baying at the top of her lungs waiting for the right person to hear her. So, keep that in mind. 😽
