"Zentangle"

Zentangle is a structured drawing method that uses repetitive patterns, known as tangles, to create intricate and meditative compositions.

Developed as a form of mindful art practice, Zentangle emphasizes focus, relaxation, and creativity without the need for prior drawing experience. Artists build designs using simple strokes such as dots, lines, curves, and orbs, often working in black ink on white paper.

While rooted in a specific methodology, the principles of Zentangle are widely applied in illustration, pattern design, and therapeutic art practices. It encourages exploration, precision, and a calming creative process.

"Deckle Edge"

Deckle Edge refers to the naturally irregular, feathered edge found on handmade or high-quality art papers. It is created during the paper-making process when the pulp spreads unevenly at the edges of the mold.

Deckle edges are often preserved intentionally for aesthetic purposes, adding a handcrafted, organic quality to finished artwork. They are commonly seen in watercolor papers, fine art prints, and archival documents.

Artists and printers value deckle edges for their visual softness and authenticity, as they enhance presentation and emphasize the material quality of the paper.

ATTENTION ACTIVE MEMBERS 📢

NEW CALL FOR ART: “ALL IN THE FAMILY”
We have talked about this exhibit before, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the opening of our new space than with “All in the Family.”

Through the Collective, many of us have become a family through art. This exhibit is an opportunity to celebrate those connections and highlight the diversity, creativity, and relationships that make every family unique.

“All in the Family”
For the first time, we are inviting families of all forms to participate in this special exhibition celebrating diversity, connection, and creativity.

Families come in all shapes, sizes, and stories. This exhibit will highlight:

The diversity of today’s families
The interconnectedness we share
The ways creativity can become a bridge between generations, identities, and experiences
We welcome artwork that reflects your family’s identity, history, humor, struggles, growth, or simple moments of togetherness.

There are two ways to participate:
Option 1: One Collaborative Piece
Your family may create one artwork together—a single piece that reflects your shared vision, styles, or perspectives.

Option 2: Individual Pieces Displayed as One Family Collection
Each family member may create their own separate artwork, which will be exhibited together as a unified family grouping.

At least one participating family member must be a current member of the Casper Artists’ Collective.

Entry Details
Families of all structures are welcome!
The Collective member’s entry is free
Each additional family participant: $5 per person
All mediums are welcome, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, fiber arts, digital art, mixed media, and more
Artwork should be exhibition-ready
A short description of your family’s concept or story is optional but encouraged
The submission deadline will be in the middle of November. We are hoping to have the exhibit ready to open around Shop Small Saturday, although the opening date is tentative and will depend in part on the amount of volunteer help we have available.

This exhibit is especially meaningful as we launch our new space, and we hope you’ll consider creating something with the people who make up your family—however you define it. For drop off, please message us on messenger so we can make sure someone is at the building to accept your submissions.We are so excited and cant wait for this event!! Let's go 🙏❤️❤️
