Members of Mahoning Chapter DAR joined The Mahoning Valley SAR and The North Jackson Historical Society at Covenanter Cemetery in North Jackson for a dedication ceremony to mark four Revolutionary War Patriot graves. Thank you to all the descendants and community members who joined us for a moving ceremony. We will never forget how these men fought bravely for American independence. 🇺🇸✨

Sending warm hugs from home to our troops overseas! 🇺🇸
Mahoning Chapter is preparing to ship 20 more "Handmade with Love" scarves to Operation Gratitude. These scarves will be included in care packages that are sent to deployed service men and women, and we are told that they are very much appreciated! Our chapter has a long tradition of knitting and crocheting for the military and it’s a privilege to play a role in continuing this tradition.

Our DAR chapter continues to grow and we are thrilled to welcome our newest members! As we welcome the future, we also pause to honor the cherished Daughter we lost this past year. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy, service, and spirit remain a vital part of our chapter’s history. 🇺🇸🌹

Marigolds were the theme as the Mahoning Chapter DAR book club dove into 'A Fall of Marigolds' by Susan Meissner, and wow—what a conversation! 🏵️ 🏵️ 🏵️
This book beautifully ties together the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Fire and the 9/11 tragedy through a single, century-old scarf of hardy marigolds. We enjoyed fellowship, sodas, homemade cookies, and an inspiring discussion on resilience and how two strong women survived history's heaviest days.

What an incredible morning recognizing our local heroes in Pocket Park, Ravenna 🇺🇸
Today, while attending the Portage Turns Purple Ceremony, a Mahoning Chapter daughter had the privilege of pinning four local Vietnam veterans. Too many of these heroes did not get the welcome home they deserved when they returned so many years ago. It was a humbling honor to present them with their commemorative lapel pins and express the gratitude of a grateful nation.
Her pinning did not go unnoticed and she was presented with the Purple Heart Challenge Coin.
To every Vietnam-era veteran and all veterans—thank you for your courage, sacrifice, and service.
❤️🤍💙

Striking a chord for local veterans! At the Columbiana Arts Theater, veterans who graduated from the Guitars for Veterans program performed with special guests from the Zac Brown Band. Our chapter was thrilled to go on stage and present Operation Six String with a check for $2500 to help cover the cost of music lessons and guitars for the next class of veterans.
This money was realized from our annual Veteran's Charity Golf Classic.

Thank you to our generous golfers, sponsorship businesses, and the volunteers who gave their time to make this another successful year. All proceeds will support our local veterans

Exciting news! The Rocks at the Road of Remembrance are now an Ohio DAR historical site.
In 1931, the Mahoning Chapter located and brought rocks from the battlefields of Lexington and Concord to place around a memorial rock marking the Road of Remembrance—a memorial highway honoring World War I servicemen. In addition, beneath the large central rock lies a bottle of soil from the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery in France, the largest American military cemetery in Europe.
