Dear friends, supporters, and community,

I am deeply honored to announce that Shine Your Light is now officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This milestone makes it possible for us to more fully carry out our mission, to pave the way through health barriers and provide compassionate support and resources to patients and families navigating difficult journeys.

This recognition strengthens our ability to fund programs, broaden services, and partner with others so we can bring practical help and emotional comfort to those who need it most. Our vision has always been to ignite the light within our community — to lift spirits, restore hope, and spread healing. With this new status, we can touch more lives.

Shine Your Light is a little nonprofit with a big heart — we believe everyone deserves access to quality health care, no matter their circumstances. We’re committed to lifting up neighbors who are struggling with health challenges, breaking down barriers to care, and bringing hope where it’s needed most.

Healthcare costs are overwhelming, and to meet these needs we rely on community support. This February, you can make a sweet difference: stop by Totally 80s Ice Ice Cream Shoppe and mention “Shine Your Light” at checkout — a portion of your purchase will be donated to support our programs.

Starting tomorrow through February … when you purchase something from the Salem Shoppe just tell us what organization to donate to. No extra money for customers, just 10% of their total will be donated to that organization. Anyone not mentioning an org will have 10% of their total put in a general donation evenly.

Shine Your Light — 2025 Recap

As a new nonprofit launched in late August 2025, Shine Your Light has spent the past months laying thoughtful, caring groundwork to serve our community with compassion, dignity, and respect. We are deeply grateful for every person who has believed in our mission and helped bring light into difficult moments.

Highlights from 2025
- Launched the organization and established our guiding values focused on compassionate support for families facing medical challenges.
- Hosted our first fundraiser, creating compassionate care packages specifically for women who have experienced pregnancy loss or stillbirth — each package assembled with dignity, warmth, and practical support in mind.
- Partnered with Feathered Threads Boutique for a Shop with a Purpose event & Totally 80s Ice Ice Cream Shoppe for an Ice Cream Fundraiser.
- Provided direct assistance to mothers in need through donations, resource referrals, and one-on-one support.
- Attended community events to share our purpose, listen to lived experiences, and better understand the needs of those we aim to serve.
- Built initial volunteer and partner relationships and began planning programs and policies to ensure improvements in care and support.

Looking to 2026
We are preparing for a year of exponential, intentional growth. Plans for 2026 include expanded events and fundraisers, educational development, and increased networking with local providers and community organizations. Our focus remains clear: to better serve those navigating the complexities of healthcare challenges with empathy, love, and tangible support.

This October, as we observe Pregnancy Loss and Infant Mortality Awareness Month, we pause to reflect on the strength and resilience of our community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to local businesses, compassionate individuals, and especially to the women who have navigated these deeply personal experiences. Your courage and willingness to donate, standing alongside mothers facing loss, exemplifies the true essence of community: being there for one another in times of need.

Today, we are humbled to announce the donation of five Compassion Care Kits to our local labor and delivery unit, specially curated for grieving mothers.

What’s inside each kit:

🧡 Other women’s care items

Each item was chosen with love to bring comfort during one of the most unimaginable times. The heartbeat bears, generously donated by Meet Your Miracle allow mothers to forever cherish the sound of their baby’s heartbeat, a memory that lives on.

By bringing attention to this crucial issue, you play a vital role in improving future outcomes and fostering a more compassionate environment for all.
