UCP Central PA has been creating opportunities for people of all ages with all types of disabilities for nearly seventy years.

For more than 70 years, UCP Central PA has been creating opportunities, empowering possibilities, and maximizing potential for people of all ages and abilities. Today our nearly 1,500 employees deliver on our mission as we empower 1,500 people with diverse abilities each year to live a meaningful life through innovative support and services. We are planting seeds daily until we achieve our vision of a community that embrace’s every individuals’ abilities. We encourage a life without limits for people who are born with a disability, acquire a disability through illness, accident or injury, or are aging into a disability through our comprehensive service offerings.

• We offer children who are experiencing delays in meeting developmental milestones various therapies to help them reach their full potential
• We deliver a broad system of support for the entire family including grandparents and siblings
• We provide the support, resources, and access that helps people secure, maintain, and succeed at competitive, meaningful employment
• We help people lead more independent, full, and engaging lives while volunteering, working, shopping, or participating in recreational opportunities
• We are building strong community connections by matching each person’s strengths, preferences, and abilities with available local opportunities
• We provide a place to call home, and a nurturing and supportive family environment rich with life experiences for people
• We provide the opportunity for people to manage their own supports and services
• We restore and refurbish home medical equipment and assistive technology devices and redistribute to the community free of charge
• We make everyday living easier, and otherwise impossible tasks possible for people

As we wrap up October and National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we're shining a spotlight on the incredible work of our Employment Specialists at UCP Central PA!

Helping someone discover their strengths, build confidence, and achieve their employment goals is rewarding in ways that go far beyond a paycheck.

This we are celebrating the amazing individuals who receive our Employment Services, like Chris and Tanner, who work together at Weis Markets. Chris stocks shelves and Tanner takes out the trash. When asked what he wants people to know about individuals with disabilities in the workplace, Chris's answer was simple; “We are just like everyone else. We work hard, and there’s no reason to tease or make fun of somebody. We’re all the same.” Thank you, Chris and Tanner for your hard work!

Emily works at Ecumenical Retirement Community setting and bussing tables, doing dishes, vacuuming, setting up bingo, and making sure their main dining room is clean, organized, and comfortable for the residents. She has been working there for 7 years and enjoys interacting with coworkers and the individuals who live there. In addition to working in the dining room, Emily has completed her emergency safety training and is CPR certified! Happy to Emily and all employees breaking barriers and redefining what's possible! ♥️

Find a wide selection of unique gift ideas and home décor at our first ever Makers Market Craft Fair! All crafts will be handmade locally by UCP Family and Friends who retain proceeds from their sales. Vendor baskets will be raffled off, and there will be seasonal food offerings. 🍂
