Dear VFW Post 7530 Family,

Yesterday Marked the 251st Birthday of the United States Navy. Formed on 13 October 1775 Our Navy is the Maritime Service Branch of the US Armed Forces and’s One of the Eight Uniformed Services of the United States.

Participating in Every War and Campaign Since the Revolutionary War the Navy Has Two Core Missions:

- Recruit, Train, Equip, and Organize to Deliver Combat Ready Naval Forces to Win Conflicts and Wars

- Maintain Security and Deterrence Through A Sustained Forward Presence.

The Navy’s Ability to Globally Project Itself Anywhere at Any Time Makes It a Key Component of the US National Security Strategy as Well as Foreign Policy.

To Accomplish Its Mission Today’s Navy Employs Nearly 300 Deployable Combat Ships and Vessels as Well as Over 2,600 Manned Aircraft.

But Its Greatest Asset Is Its People. Over 612,000 Active Duty, Ready Reserve, and Civilian Warriors Serve Each and Every Day to Keep Our Nation Safe.

Six United States Presidents Have Served in the Navy.

The Mottos of the Navy are Semper Fortis, Which Means "Always Courageous" and "Non Sibi Sed Patriae" Which Stands for "Not for Self but for Country".

Anyone Who Has Had the Privilege of Serving Alongside the Great Men and Women of the US Navy Know How True Those Words Are.

We Have Many Veterans of the US Navy Who Belong to Our Post Here at 7530. If You See Them and Get a Chance Please Take a Moment to Wish Our Navy a Happy Birthday and Thank Them for Their Service.

Thanks Navy, for 251 Years of Dedicated and Distinguished Service to Our Nation!
