CHEECH….his story

CHEECH is an amazing dog. He was so brought to me for boarding when he was 6 months old along with his brother Chong (you guessed that right?😂)

Athletic, funny and drop dead gorgeous…CHEECH should have been easy to adopt out

But he was FAILED over & over BECAUSE he is a good boy….people don’t listen….they think THEY are the exception to all the rules….and he can be protective.

🐾we have NEVER saw the guard mode CHEECH here at the rescue because we have a very regular routine, we have rules and we expect the dogs to follow them, and we are all confident & calm when working with the dogs
***the trainer he is being fostered by has also NOT seen any display of this behavior

CHEECH has went to 4 homes. NONE of them, NOT A SINGLE ONE followed the protocol for introducing a new dog & allowing decompression.

They ALL did way too much way too soon. Literally leave the rescue and took him to dog park😳to the pet store🙄to tractor supply to bath him😩 (this was one person…all on the way to their home)
Another went straight home and put him with her other male dog (big time against our guidelines they sign that they will follow & understand) they did fine the first 3 days until she grilled out with food sitting in reach and the boys off leash (our guidelines they shouldn’t even be with each other until day 3 & even then on leash!!!)
The last one kept him over 3 months. Woman was pregnant and nervous a lot about the cat. They also took him to too many places initially& has too many people (including small children) in the house around him within days of getting him. They tried to work on his guarding of the woman but her hormones & insecurity set CHEECH up to feel he needed to protect her.

I’m telling all this because CHEECH NEEDS A HOME!!! He is AMAZING!!! But he needs a home with a confident leader so he doesn’t try to protect his people.
🐾his behavior has been growling at people coming in the door, growling at the guy with pregnant wife putting him in crate, seeming at guard with new people in home.

💜🐾💜we are going to open up his file for foster & adoption again since he has been extensively tested at the trainers.
We have tried to duplicate the “stranger coming in the door” with us but he never reacts…. Because we are confident & he doesn’t feel the need to “guard” us

Sooooo we will be posting a lot about the great guy because he truly deserves a HOME. He will be an amazing dog for the right person or family.

💜🐾💜we cried when he was brought back because human failure cost him some good homes. We don’t want him failed again🥺

WINTER got to have a weekend slumber party with her brother Storm🥰

She did great and had wonderful manners inside the home.

She is sooooo ready for a FOSTER or ADOPTER🤗
This girl is absolutely gorgeous!!! Strikingly beautiful blue eyes and a good stature, WINNIE (as we affectionately call her) is one of the most stunning dogs we have ever had

🐾young adult 2ish yrs old
💜potty & crate trained
🐾dog friendly-*has a physical play style
💜higher end of medium energy-easy going and settled in the house, excited on walks & play at the onset then settles
🐾will do great with family who is fairly active, kids over 10yrs due to her playful manner and size (around 65-70pds)

We are in critical need of FOSTERS🆘

Brian is one of the extreme few that has stepped up🤗

We all feel bad that dogs are being euthanized because there are just too many of them. The harsh reality is feeling sorry for them does not keep them alive🥺

Fostering keeps hearts beating. Spaying & neutering keeps unwanted puppies from being dumped out on the side of the road left to die a harsh cruel death.

No one likes to think of such things. We all want to think that all these dogs end up in wonderful happy homes and live out their lives being loved♥️But without COMMITED fosters and adopters that absolutely is not what is happening or what is going to happen.

BE LIKE BRIAN….save a life by FOSTERING☺️

COMMITMENT…
this is a word it seems, the vast majority of people do not comprehend the meaning of anymore or are just incapable of the discipline, self sacrifice and deep love it takes to be & stay committed.

This is in many areas of life but we are a dog rescue so this post is concerning the lack of any kind of commitment toward fostering or adopting a dog.

Applications ask “ what will you do if you move? Have a baby? Get married or divorced?” Time after time the applicants state “keep the dog”

My my my how many times that commitment isn’t kept🥺

Commitment is also taking steps to insure the dog has proper decompression time. This BY FAR IS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE new fosters/adopters make. They do NOT STAY COMMITTED to the guidelines set for a successful relationship.

Every single day of my life I hear over & over reasons/excuses people want to give up their dog. Some days it makes me truly sick. My stomach gets nauseous from the stress and sadness. Other days it makes me FURIOUS!!!! How dare they give up on a creature that loves them unconditionally?!? Furious because I would love to have my baby LUKE back.

COMMITMENT…I made a promise to LUKE. I was going to love him & protect him until one of our hearts stopped beating…and then I was still gonna love him until we were together again.

LUKE wasn’t easy. He would have truly bit someone, and he did a few times. He never bit me the whole time I worked with him not once🥹 my commitment to LUKE gave me way more in return than I could have ever imagined in the beginning. I just wanted to save him from being euthanized. He became the greatest teacher of my entire life…the lesson was trust, true real trust.

My life was changed because I stayed COMMITTED when it would have been soooooo much easier to have gave up. No one would have blamed me for euthanizing him for behavioral reasons (& this is NOT about anyone else’s decision to do so) but I stayed committed to LUKE for 4yrs until he got his wings back🪽

COMMITMENT….humans need to understand and execute this. So many people are missing out on beautiful gifts because they give up too easily💜🐾💜
