Congratulations to the class of 2025.
The P.U.L.L. Scholarship awards $2,000 to one outstanding student at each of the public high schools in Gordon County, Georgia. The scholars are selected based on their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and the quality of their application essay. The essay topic for the class of 2025 was this; “The landmark case Loving V. Virginia was decided by the Supreme Court in 1967. Should in*******al marriage be allowed in America today?” These students exhibit a high level of critical thought, and the willingness to explore ideas outside of the mainstream. Here are our scholars pictured from left to right:
Sara Elise Gallman (Calhoun High School): Plays varsity tennis, runs on the cross country team, is president of Skills USA chapter, serves as an officer for FBLA, is a huddle leader for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Beta Club VP of community service, National Honors Society Member, Spanish Honors Society Member, and is participant of the Gordon County Youth Leadership Development Program. Sara Elise plans to major in computer science with minors in bioinformatics, media/film production, and graphic design/marketing.
Ella Kate Walraven (Sonoraville High School): Plays on the varsity basketball team, participates on the track and field team, served as a member of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, voted as class president twice, currently holds the office of Beta Club President, regularly committed to being a math tutor, Distinguished Young Woman participant, Governor’s Honors nominee & State Semi-finalist, and is the region literary champion. Ella Kate plans to pursue a career in healthcare as a physician’s assistant.
Janette Reyes-Gatica (Gordon Central High School): Participates in the theater program, serves on the yearbook planning committee, is a member of National Honor Society, and a member of the International Thespian Society. Janette plans to pursue a career in forensic science.
