Keep Calhoun Gordon Beautiful

Keep Calhoun Gordon Beautiful Since 2018, Keep Calhoun Gordon Beautiful (KCGB) (an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful) has been wo We want to be a collaborative organization.

In 2018, a handful of individuals from Calhoun and Gordon County convened to discuss how to reduce roadside trash, encourage recycling, organize community clean up efforts, and help spread the word throughout our communities of the value of a cleaner, greener environment. IN 2019, we became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, EIN 83-3839643, and by the Fall of 2021, we will be an official affilia

te of Keep America Beautiful. We are a group of local citizens with diverse backgrounds and interests, including education, medicine, industry, engineering, business, writing, photography, government, history, and outdoor hobbies. We encourage everyone in our community to participate and bring their energy and ideas to the group. Keep Calhoun Gordon Beautiful focuses on four things that each of our members can help with:

Individual Responsibility
Improving the environment and quality of life of communities begins with personal responsibility and behavioral changes. We want to help individuals become engaged stewards of the environment. Partnership
Broad-based community alliances including public, private and civic sectors are essential to achieve sustainable community improvement. Education
Education and awareness are key steps to encouraging positive behaviors toward community improvement. We want to help educate those around us. Volunteers
Engaging volunteers can and will extend the reach and multiply the impact of local initiatives that change individual behavior and improve the community environment. We will empower our volunteers with an array of community activities and events.

Another successful KCGB Community Recycling Day is behind us. Thank you to all of the Gordon County folks who brought tires, electronics, paper, plastic, batteries, appliances and other recyclables to the event. Together, we are keeping these items out of the landfill. And thank you to Rock Bridge Community Church, local Interact Clubs, and all the community volunteers who gave their time on Saturday (and the weeks leading up to Saturday)! And thank you to our recycling partners and vendors! We appreciate every single one of you! Last but not least, thank you to Lisa Martin (Lisa Martin Photography) for capturing a few moments of the day.
