🚨UPDATE - CHARLES TIMOTHY BATTLES IS IN CUSTODY. BATTLES was arrested by deputy sheriffs a short time ago inside a private residence near the Scottsville community, with the invaluable help of our private citizens. He was surprised by the arresting officers and apprehended without incident. He faces charges of Attempted Murder, Arson, and Aggravated Stalking.

BATTLES, who was previously arrested by GCSO for Aggravated Stalking, had pled guilty in Superior Court in October and was serving a sentence of probation at the time of these most recent events.

Sheriff Ralston thanked his staff, the Calhoun Police, the State Fire Marshal’s Office for all their hard work, and particularly the private citizens who provided critical information to GCSO.

“It was important that this matter be resolved quickly given the nature and severity of these crimes . Everyone involved worked around the clock to bring this defendant in, and now he will be held accountable in our courts,” said Sheriff Ralston.

CONSUMER ALERT: CARR WARNS OF DANGEROUS SYNTHETIC OPIOIDS FLOODING GAS STATIONS. Attorney General Chris Carr is warning Georgians about the dangers of products containing 7-OH, an opioid-like substance that is flooding gas stations, v**e shops, and convenience stores.

7-OH (formally known as 7-hydroxymitragynine) is a chemical compound that naturally occurs in low levels in the kratom plant. Isolated or concentrated forms of 7-OH – such as those found in tablets, capsules, shots and liquid extracts – present significant risks. Concentrated forms of 7-OH are 13 times more potent than morphine, according to the FDA, and may lead to seizures, substance abuse disorder, withdrawal, overdose, and even death.
