A little known footnote in history is that Laotian pilots flew the T-6 Texan-very much similar to the beautiful SNJ in the hangar of the Highland Lakes Squadron of the CAF in Burnet, Texas-that were armed with guns and rockets and were briefly flown by allied Laotian and Cambodian pilots that conducted strike and reconnaissance sorties to attack Viet Cong and Pathet Lao targets along the Ho Chi Minh Trail in the first half of the 1960s. These pilots all gave the Texan very high marks. Come on down to the highland lakes Squadron of the CAF and see their pretty SNJ and perhaps get a ride in it.
