Little Me spent a lot of time learning how to handle things.
How to read the room.
How to stay out of the way.
How to figure it out.
How to survive without making too much noise about what hurt.
What he did not learn nearly enough of was this:
Someone should have protected you too.
You were never supposed to carry everything by yourself.
That is something Big Me is still learning.
I can protect myself now.
I can leave.
I can say no.
I can choose who gets access to me.
I can stop treating endurance like the only option.
Little Me learned how to survive.
Big Me gets to learn how to feel safe.
