Some of the National Animation Museum team recently visited the Mary Blair: Mid-Century Magic exhibit, now on tour at Napa Valley Museum Yountville!

Originally created by The Walt Disney Family Museum, this exhibition celebrates the life and legacy of Disney art and animation legend Mary Blair. Often considered one of Walt Disney’s favorite artists, Blair revolutionized animation and theme park design with her vibrant colors, iconic style, and unforgettable visual storytelling.

Before becoming one of Disney’s most influential artists, Mary Blair studied at the Chouinard Art Institute, a precursor to what is now our partner California Institute of the Arts.

If you find yourself in the San Francisco Bay Area, be sure to visit Napa Valley Museum Yountville through October 25 to experience Mary Blair’s original artwork firsthand!

For the past year, the National Animation Museum has been collaborating with students and emerging animators to animate and bring our logo to life, originally designed by MinaLima.

We're excited to welcome our next featured animator, Fiji Simon! Based in Pasadena, California, Fiji specializes in CG animation and is a recent graduate of ArtCenter College of Design.

Take a look at a sneak peek of her animation!

The National Animation Museum recently joined our collaborator Param Foundation based in India for a virtual educational program.

Our Creative Director Robin Stapley led a session with 40 students, introducing the fundamentals of stop motion animation, storytelling, and design. Through hands-on learning and creative exploration, students discovered how their own ideas could take shape as animated stories.

We’re proud to support learning opportunities that inspire creativity, curiosity, and the next generation of storytellers.
