May 14th, 2022 was a day that reminded us how racism—both old and young—continues to devastate our city, nation, and world. Four years later, the trauma on Buffalo's East Side still remains alongside too many broken promises and too little progress.

Labor’s strength has always come from solidarity; and that solidarity extends beyond the workplace. It is rooted in community, grounded in justice, and driven by love. Standing up against racism and white supremacy is not separate from our work, it is central to it. We will never forget May 14th, and we will honor the lives lost by continuing to organize, advocate for, and build a better future together.

During Nurses Week we celebrate Tori and all the badass nurses who make WNY healthier and !

“As a home care nurse, I care for patients where they’re most comfortable — in their homes. Being part of a union has shown me how connected patient care and worker advocacy really are. I believe we have a responsibility to ourselves, our patients, and our communities to help facilitate the change that is always needed in healthcare. When I lobby in Albany, I talk to legislators about what healthcare looks like outside hospital walls. Home care keeps patients healthier, prevents hospital readmissions, and allows people to heal with dignity at home.”
