We only had 7 people sign up to remove snow this year for the Snow Brigade and were unable to open the request form. There is a great need for this right now. Please consider signing up so we can get enough people together to help out our neighbors unable to shovel themselves out

It has been a while since we've highlighted our values and vision as a group, which you can find below as they were collectively defined in 2020. BMAN was founded on, and continues to stand as, an anti-fascist, anti-oppression, harm reduction, peer oriented collective.

Based on some recent activity, we wanted to make it clear, BMAN is an Anti ICE group. Any posts or comments in support of ICE will be removed and the author banned.

Also, we have noticed an uptick in judgmental comments on people’s requests. We have been trained as a society to feel shame and to shame others for asking for help. The goal of all mutual aid is to recognize all people have something to offer and have a need from their community. We ask that you do not make judgmental comments on request posts. We also recognize that we are fallible humans who may miss something while venting requests.

If you see a comment or post that you believe should be reviewed by us, please @ admin or comment the word “admin” to flag it for us.

Our monthly meeting is next week Wednesday 4/9 at 6p!

We will be continuing discussions of pod mapping community support, food justice efforts and sharing ideas for future initiatives.

Whether you’re already involved or just curious, your voice matters. Bring your ideas or just come listen and learn. All are welcome!

CALL FOR COMMUNITY CARE!

Buffalo Snow Brigade needs more volunteers available to be able to open up and take on requests for help.

We need more people overall, and we specifically need more volunteers located on the east side. Historically that is our area of greatest need, and the conditions make having volunteers located in the area critical.

While we will shortly be making the updated help request form available too, please understand that we are currently unable to fulfill all requests that come in. Ofc that’s actually always the case - we are after all a volunteer network doing our best to meet needs that our system fails to, not a resourced agency of any kind - but it’s even moreso the case while we have so little engagement on the volunteer side.

This Wednesday! Come find out how we’re planning to support each other this winter, from specifics on how to help coordinate Buffalo Snow Brigade efforts to upcoming storm/disaster-prep podmapping info.

The first part will be our general info meeting to cover upcoming activities and open questions, and then we’ll be doing a volunteer training for Buffalo Snow Brigade (which will be recorded for later training purposes).
