The Navy League of the United States, founded in 1902 with the support of President Theodore Roosevelt, is a non-profit civilian, educational and advocacy organization that supports America's sea services: the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and U.S.-flagged Merchant Marine. Through national and local programs, the Navy League provides a powerful voice to educate the public and Congress on the im

portance of our sea services to our nation's defense, well-being and economic prosperity. The Navy League provides support to our sea services personnel and their families and youth programs such as the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Junior ROTC, and Young Marines, that expose young people to the values of our sea services.

Maine’s two U.S. senators made a coordinated push yesterday to secure continued Pentagon funding for additional Navy destroyers at Bath Iron Works.

The senators warned that inconsistent federal contracts could threaten one of Maine’s most critical industries and weaken America’s naval readiness at a time of growing global instability.

During their tour, Collins and Admiral Caudle reviewed shipyard operations and workforce training initiatives, highlighting ongoing recruitment and training efforts designed to strengthen the next generation of shipbuilders.

They stressed that a steady and predictable demand signal from the Pentagon is essential to sustain production not only at Bath Iron Works, but across its extensive supplier network.
