When I was eleven years old I opened up to my sister, Taylor, about the sexual assault I had been grieving over. Even though it had been over five years since I was assaulted it wasn’t too late to ask for help. She was only about fourteen at the time. She immediately made sure I was ok and then called my grandmother and parents. Within an hour the police were notified.
I was very blessed with a supportive sister who knew exactly what to do. She was my ally and helped me find the help I needed after going through the trauma of sexual assault. If you know someone or have been through the violence that is sexual assault, perhaps reach out to a trusted friend, family member, or teacher. You can also use the statewide sexual assault helpline, 1-800-871-7741

The first time I ever heard about the Miss Maine program was back in 2016 when was Miss Maine. Hearing her talk about how she grew into the woman she is through this program made me want to get involved. After years of missing the deadline and Covid-19, I am finally here and able to say that I am your new Miss Maine Outstanding Teen 2021😁💕👏I am thrilled to be representing the wonderful state of Maine at Nationals at the end of July. I am so thankful for the love and support from my family and friends! I want to give a huge thank you to all of the Miss Maine candidates! You all inspire me each and every day! To my loves .e.b and .lipp , I am forever grateful for the examples you both have set for me! To my wonderful Miss Maine team, I can’t wait to make this year the best comeback year from covid with your help! And of course to my new Maine sister , I adore you and I am ready to take on this journey with you by my side! ❤️❤️❤️My goal is to reach every community within Maine with my platform, My Body My Voice, so I can help put an end to sexual assault. I hope to make the great state of Maine proud.🌲🏠 Well... let’s begin!

Day 3 of ! Today I went for a walk with my family! We went on these beautiful trials near my house:) (not pictured here because I was so in the moment I forgot to take a picture however I wanna go again tomorrow anyways :)) this is just the silly, been inside all day, Jane, pictured here haha! I have to say it is a little hard to get out of your house because this new way of life can make u stay in more easily... however finding ways to motivate yourself to get outside and find some fresh air is always a good idea:)👏🏻☀️🥰 -Jane @ New Gloucester, Maine
