The Assembly advocates for the entire student body through issue engagement, programming, and services. The BSG Assembly has 6 functional areas, each with a committee chaired by a member of the Executive Committee. These committees are listed below and members of the BSG Assembly serve on one of the first five committees in addition to serving on the assembly.
1. BSG Affairs - Deals with all issu
es relating to the BSG itself including elections and constitutional oversight. Also oversees students on college committees, drafts all legislation for Assembly meetings, and oversees the budget.
2. Student Affairs - Deals with all issues relating to living at Bowdoin. Interacts with Res-Life, the Health Center, Athletics, the College Houses, Counseling, and the rest of the College's Student Affairs Division. Also helps oversee BSG programming initiatives.
3. Academic Affairs - Deals with all issues relating to the academic nature of Bowdoin including grading policies, majors, student-faculty relations, and advising.
4. Student Organizations - Oversees all the student organizations on campus, charters them for funding, provides them with the support they need, and ensures their sustainability from year to year.
5. Facilities & Sustainability - Deals with all issues relating to the Facilities, Dining, and Security Divisions of the College. Helps students with everyday problems they are having with their dorms and assists in planning future improvements to College facilities.
6. Student Activities Funding - Allocates about $600,000 worth of funding to the student organizations over the course of the year.
