Supporting our community is something we truly love. Being able to sponsor a child’s lifetime hunting license was really cool, this kid is so happy! More than anything, it was incredible to see families spending intentional time together — dads, moms, and kids making memories that will last forever. At Salon 427, we’re family first, always.

🛑‼️HOUSEKEEPING for the 6th Annual Squirrel Hunt Competition 2026 ‼️🛑

This is a family friendly event with a HUGE FOCUS on encouraging YOUTH INVOLVEMENT in the outdoors. As parents, guardians, and mentors it is our responsibility to ensure we are setting a good example of fair competition, responsible conservation and management, and safety.

The hunt competition takes place ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 21st at LEGAL LIGHT. No squirrels are to be taken BEFORE this date or time, and it is understood that the only squirrels taken are to be EASTERN GRAY SQUIRRELS LOCATED IN FLORIDA.

We expect all squirrels harvested during the competition to fulfill a purpose. We expect all who participate in this event to plan to process and consume your harvest (after weigh in). We will not be providing a method for disposal.

‼️Some housekeeping and rules‼️
💥By purchasing a team entry, you agreed to follow and abide by all FWC regulations regarding hunting and taking gray squirrel, and acknowledge you are aware of those regulations. You also agreed that you have read, understand and agreed to all rules stated for this event. Adult supervision of all youth is expected/required. Adult is responsible for participating youth understanding and following these rules.
💥If anyone is suspected of or found not abiding by these rules, there is a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY on participation in future events, and if necessary, we will involve the appropriate legal authorities.
💥Entry is non-refundable, the hunt takes place rain or shine. Squirrels cannot be soaking wet and will be refused at entry. No exceptions. All squirrels should be kept on ice in a cooler until you weigh in, but they MUST BE KEPT IN A ZIPLOC BAG to ensure they do not get soaked.
💥Hunting takes place on any private or public (WMA) land in which you have legal permission to hunt.
💥*REMINDER* Weigh in will take place from 10am to 2pm. You must be in line by 2pm!! You must have your best (up to 5) squirrels already picked out when you get into line. If you are not ready to weigh in when you get to the table for inspection, you will be sent to the back of the line. DO NOT CLEAN your squirrels until AFTER you weigh in.
💥*NEW THIS YEAR* Weigh in location: Rock Lake Cattle Demonstration Area - 8132 Croom Rital Rd, Brooksville, FL 34601.
💥Every registered youth will receive a raffle ticket at weigh in regardless if they are successful in taking squirrels or not, but they MUST CHECK IN. After final weigh in, all youth registrants will participate in a prize raffle where we will raffle off our sponsorship donations.
💥Youth "table" prizes will be issued on a first come, first serve basis. It is encouraged that participants who are successful early in the day, check in/weigh in early. By doing so, they will get to pick from the "table" prizes ahead of the final raffle announcements. Table prize tickets are issued at WEIGH IN.
💥If you are unable to successfully take 5 squirrels, you can enter anywhere from 1 to 5 squirrels at weigh in, plus the side pot squirrel.
💥$5 per squirrel entry SIDE POT for the “Single squirrel with the longest tail.” You can pay $5 per single squirrel to have their tail measured and entered. The squirrel must be one taken during the competition. Tail will be measured from the base to the tip (excluding fur).
💥 We WILL have an independent examiner on site at weigh in to check ALL squirrel entries! We reserve the right to refuse any squirrel/person from entry based on that examination.
